I tripped walking several times in my life, never fell of my bike. It would make more sense wearing a helmet when walking.
If you get hit by a car that eggshell on your head is not going to help much…

Dutch News NL paints a very different Picture.
It would be nice here in America if they didn't come up behind the bike approaching a corner and race ahead so they can turn in front of the bike.
I would like to see America learn from Holland and become a more bike-friendly country. Many people would benefit from the efforts.
But why are the Dutch society so stubborn about wearing helmets ?
