I’ve been trying to decide between models for a while now and I think I’m ready to go with the A line. I don’t need mud guards and I think it would be fun to customize the bike overtime without the larger initial investment, even if the price ends up being a wash in the end. I do have a few questions though:

I know the A line uses an old version of the M bar. I’d like to eventually find a solution that’s between the M and the S. I am wondering if the Joseph Kuosac mid rise bars (https://www.fantastic4toys.com/products/joseph-kuosac-25-4mm-aluminum-handlebar-for-brompton-bicycle?_pos=14&_sid=c7ba1f523&_ss=r) would work without further modification?

Similarly, would any 3rd party Brompton specific seatpost work?

Would I also be able to easily swap for better/smaller break levers? I’d have LBS do the work, but I’m wondering if essentially any levers would be compatible.

Are there any other parts that you’d swap out early on if you bought an A line?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  1. Yes to all of that. But I’ve been using a B 75 with no mods for nearly 4 years. I would suggest that without mudguards you’re making it more of a toy and less of a tool.
