Six months ago I was toying with the idea of upgrading my road bike then decided to test out a 1x setup as my main riding is 30-50 minute commutes & the odd weekend longer ride.
Picked up some cheap 650b wheels & set them up with tubes for now to test out a bit of gravel / singletrack near me + signed up for a non-competive event.
Any tips for first time tubeless setups, is it as easy as some say at home now or am I better off getting it done by someone experienced?
Ideally the 650bs are tubeless & my road wheels have tubes so I can switch to slicks for longer road rides.

I can only speak from a road standpoint, but going on my third year I think it’s well worth it. I live in an area where there’s a lot of puncture vine/goat heads and this has made a huge difference. Knock on wood, I’ve yet to have a puncture too significant where I’ve had to use a tube.
That said, it can be a pain to setup-especially with some wheel/tire combos. But in theory you shouldn’t have to put in sealant very often at all.

The only tricky part is finding an air compressor
I just did it for the first time today. I used the muc off tubeless setup kit. $40 off Amazon. It was pretty easy and straightforward. I managed to get it right first try.
