I believe the subject has been raised several times, but I think I have a tad more specific question.
I found on Komoot some places in Brandenburg that are called “Biwakplatz”. They are also described as “Wasserwanderrastplatz”. For example:

They are new to me and I am not sure how they are supposed to be used. My understanding is they are unmanaged places where one is allowed to spend one night free of charge, but I would like some confirmations from somebody that has experience with them. Here my questions:
\- Is my general understanding correct?
\- Should I expect them to be accessible off-season? (I prefer camping sites when I can, but I’d like to start bikepacking earlier this year)
\- Are there restrictions to the camping styles that are allowed? (for example: no tents but a bivy bag is ok)
\- What about animals? Are places like these protected by fences or similar structures? (One of the reasons I’m wary about wild camping, besides the fact is not allowed, is wild animals that could pay a visit to the camp)
