Hello! I’m very new to bikes and in the market for a used road bike. Some more info:

* I’m looking for slightly wider tire thickness
* I’m 5’11”
* I’m in the Seattle area
* Budget: <$1000

I stopped by a local used bike shop today and test rode the following two bikes:

* Trek elance: [https://shop.bikeworks.org/53cm-trek-elance.html](https://shop.bikeworks.org/53cm-trek-elance.html)
* Redline conquest: [https://shop.bikeworks.org/175-redline-conquest.html](https://shop.bikeworks.org/175-redline-conquest.html)

I liked the redline more (lighter frame, disk brakes, easier gear switching) but it’s technically a size down than me on road bikes. I’m wondering if this is a problem, the people at the shop said it’s common for folks to size down on road bikes. I’m also wondering if both of these are okay deals. Again, I’m very new to bikes!

Appreciate the help 🙂
