Hi all and hopefully thanks in advance.
My rear derailleur issue is probably best seen in the third picture(sorry).
I thought it had taken a knock and replaced it but when my son was cycling he said he heard a funny noise and it was back to the shape it’s in now
Would appreciate any thoughts as I don’t want to replace it only for this to happen again
I have limited experience so please don’t think something is too obvious/simple to mention

This happens when your derailleur is not aligned or indexed properly. Take the chain off and try to clean it (if it’s as rusty as it looks, better replace it). Take the derailleur off. If it is bent or damaged, replace it. Then have a bike shop align the derailleur hanger (this step is critical and requires a fairly expensive tool, which is why I suggest having a shop do it).
that chain no longer chains. it’s frozen from rust. there’s no coming back from that amount of rust. replace it for a start, but you’ll need a full diagnosis of the rest of the drivetrain components. I’ll bet the shift cables are rusted in place as well.
You’ll undoubtedly need both a new rear derailleur and chain.
