    I think my drivetrain snapped? Need advice

      That’s your derailleur hanger. Usually specific to your frame. You can either look for one from the OEM, or try to find a matching one from somewhere like Wheels Manufacturing.

      That is the derailleur hanger, its a piece that is designed to break instead of damaging your frame and or components. Thats an easy fix. Take it to a LBS and they will be able to find the right replacement piece

      Lucky it didn’t go into your wheel. That would have been a lot more expensive, depending on how much your dentist charges.

      That’s your derailleur hangar that has snapped. It’s a very soft piece of metal that is designed to fail before your rear mech in order to limit damage. From the pictures it looks like it has done its job perfectly so say a little prayer for it and contact your local bike shop with the make/model of your bike, they will be able to source you a new one. I would not recommend sourcing yourself as there are a roughly 200-300 different types available. Should cost around 15gbp for the part, maybe 20 or so for fitting.

      If it is a major brand frame, Just take it off and walk into your LBS and they will match it and sell you a new one for $20.

      Catch is, a new hanger isn’t necessarily perfectly straight, so if you can’t get the indexing correct, plan to go back with it installed on the bike to the LBS to ask them to straighten it.

      Or buy a derailleur alignment tool, which i think is a must-have if you don’t want to be reliant upon bike mechanics.
