Hi
Long time lurker, first time poster here. 🙂

I’m planning on buying my first MTB this year after riding road and gravel for a few years now. I want a bike, which gives me more options going up and down a mountain than my gravel does. I also really like long rides, which is what I am looking for as well when buying a mtb. Multi-day trips would be my dream on the bike. (stuff like [this](https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/experiences/route/graubuenden-bike-0/) or [this](https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/experiences/route/jura-bike-6/))

I’m 172cm (around 5.6ft i guess) and 62kg (136lb) and I love climbing. Sounds funny, but I like way up with my gravel as much, if not more than, the way down. My weight helps there as well i guess lol.
I live in Swizterland, so alpine conditions are not far away. Realisticly, I’ll mostly be riding my local trails, which are more woods and roots that sharp stones and rocks.

On my search for a mtb, and with my intrerest of some sort of efficiency, I stumbled over some really nice xc bikes. At the moment, I lean towards \~120mm travel front and back to keep some fun when going down, but also stay efficient and fast when going up.

My current watchlist consists of the Canyon Lux Trail CF6, Cannondale Scalpel (SE?) Carbon and the YT Izzo core 2 (i guess the most trail bike of them). Do you think this is reasonable considering my interests? Would you recommend another bike?

And do you think a traily xc-bike woull be a nice bike to get into mountainbiking?

Thanks for your opinion and thoughts, I’m excited to ehar what you think.

  1. Any 120 mm xc fs with dropper in general will be fine. The other part of the game is what reach/frame geometry do you want, and this you can just identify when you try the bike.
Scott Spark, Orbea oiz and Spezialized Epic are other most common brands.
