This is a major bummer. Bike has been amazing on first 4 rides with zero concerns. Today I was getting what felt like gear slip on the two granny gears and figured I would adjust detailed when I finished. But it just was not quite the right feel. I examined the bike and derailer and found nothing off. Then about 2 more major climbs there that’s a grinding metal clank. Then the pedals, chain, cassette just started spinning into infinity.
I have the cassette of but now have to wait for some more tools to get the free hub off. I am assuming the “pawls” are busted? What the hell would make this happen? I mean the first 4 rides were perfect I don’t ride hard and haven’t even had a chance to really send the bike since I’ve only had it for 2 months and have been riding around the snow we have had in Michigan.
It appears I have to take the Shimano rotor disc break off and need a special 16 tooth tool. Then there appears to be a 17mm wrench I need to fit into the free hub. I am having problems finding an exact video of my specific hub as well. Orbea website is very vague on what my hub is exactly. I have an email out to them but they have taken days to respond in the past
It is under warranty but I ordered the bike online for 1400$ on sale at thanksgiving and the closest Orbea shop is like 200miles away so I am afraid I am on my own getting this repaired. If I have to I will take the wheel to my local shop but they rent open until Wednesday.
I can’t imagine I did anything to make this happen just crappy parts? Anyone specifically what hub I have or need to order?

The pawls are likely to have damaged the actual hub teeth, a whole new wheel might be needed. I had a direct drive indoor trainer and the same thing happened, it worked then one day just slipped and broke the pawls and ratchet teeth, must just happen sometimes.
It’s unlikely you need to remove the disc rotor to remove the freehub body, I can’t see the end caps because the angle of the photo, but they may just pull off, or at least the freehub body end one might, use a vice or something, or give the freehub body a hardpull and it might just come off with the cap, then you can see the damage.
This is the least surprising thing I’ve seen from Orbea bikes. Whatever hub they use, it sucks. We had 3 people have their Orbea’s out of commission (one was a shop employee) for a month in a half waiting for a replacement wheel because Orbea refuses to issue credits.
