Involved in an accident with her car or anything like that we continued to do that actually for a few hours because obviously she could have gone to Putney or where she lived so we checked with those hospitals um finally before actually officially reporting her missing to the police we phoned her

Mother just to check to see if she’d gone home she hadn’t gone there and obviously by that stage we were very concerned and phoned at about 5:30 to the police to report her Officially Missing be on the lookout for a wide Ford Fiesta registration Mark be Bravo

Then at 12:08 her phone powered down it either ran out of battery or someone switched it off Claudia was supposed to meet friends that evening but didn’t turn up when she still didn’t answer her phone on Friday morning they got worried I found Claudia’s dad Peter uh because he has a

Key to the house and I asked him if he wouldn’t mind coming over to the house and letting himself in uh to make sure everything was all right really I was just worried to to death quite honestly um and even more so when I uh went

Through and found that she wasn’t in the house and uh nobody had seen or heard of it uh basically since the Wednesday um that’s was just weird I just find it hard to accept that people just vanish Into Thin Air and um that’s what I can’t

Get my head around there must be people out there that seen something suspicious or who know something that’s Happened so why didn’t Claudia turn up to work that Thursday morning there’s no sign of a struggle here in her house her passport and clothes are still here in fact the only things missing are a Blue Rock sack her mobile phone and probably a set of Chef’s whites the three things

She’d normally take to work with her which suggests she set off for the univers it is normal but never Arrived we know a cyclist saw a couple on melo’s Gate Bridge around 5:35 that morning about the time Claudia would have passed this spot the cyclist described the man as skinny 5 fo 5 to 5′ 6 wearing a dark hoodie dark combat trousers and smoking a cigarette with left Hand half an hour later near the University an early morning commuter passed a vehicle parked up on the verge the passenger door was open a man and woman near it looked like they were arguing we think the man was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up was it the

Same couple we just don’t know nor can be sure the woman was Claudia but if it was who was the man she was with could it be this man on CCTV early that same morning near the back of Claudia’s house his behavior seems a bit strange he disappears then one minute

Later he walks back there could be an innocent explanation but detectives need to know who he is and what he was doing police believe something terrible happened to Claudia Lawrence perhaps at the hands of someone that she knew whil much is still unclear what is certain is

That there are people out there with answers they need to share them somebody out there does know something and at the moment they’re not saying it’s almost unbearable not knowing you try and wonder what’s happened to her you don’t want it to be anything unpleasant so then you try and

Talk about tonight that you haven’t spoken about in public before you think it could be the key that there are areas of Claudia’s life that are delicate to say the least and definitely complex tell us what it is you want to see as the investigation has developed it’s apparent that some of claud’s

Relationships had an element of complexity and mystery to them I’m certain that some of those relationships were not known to a family or a friends I need to know the details of those relationships in fact I do know details of some of them and I would urge anybody

That was involved in a relationship with Claudia or knew of one that that a friend a colleague a neighbor was involved in please if they’re going to be discreet and if they want to actually allowable us to deal with it in a controlled way in a confidential way

They need to pick up that phone and give the call tonight you see some people might think they’re protecting Claudia and they’re protecting Claudia’s reputation but it’s far far more important than that if indeed we are talking here about murder I mean you you do want to hear from people who even

Have suspicions about other people that would be useful to you at this stage absolutely I’m not here to to judge claud’s relationships I’m here to investigate them I need people to share that information with me um we saw frankly I think those images of Claudia’s house are quite haunting it

Seemed to me to be very tidy do you think that she stayed there and the night in question the evidence would suggest that she left the following morning what we don’t know is whether she stayed there the previous night or that she was at somewhere else if people

Know that information please share it with me all right I want you just to take people through those key sightings because they could be very important the first one was around about 5:35 a.m. we showed it on our construction take us through it again just to remind people

Of the details the first sighting is on melo’s Gate Bridge at 5:35 a gentleman cycling past and he sees a man in a black hoodie and a cigarette in his left hand and and what about the second sighting then the second sighting and we don’t know it’s the same couple right in

Fact on neither occasion do we know it’s Claudia but the the gentleman driving past and he he’s a coupl in an argument on University Road we need to know who that man was and that was early on the morning of Thursday the 19th of March you also have this very interesting CC

TV footage it’s taken from relatively far away but it could be crucial that’s right this is CCTV and it’s of the property just in which Claudia’s house is located that man is walking around the back of the property of Claudia’s house and he actually comes out about a

Minute later it’s 10: to 6:00 in the morning on the morning that Claudia should have been at work we know she wasn’t at work she could have been at the house on that occasion we need to know who that man is we certainly do need to know Ray thank you very much for

June last year at 7:20 in the morning aori stops for a hitchhiker on the a30 walkingh yeah the driver Shane Northway picked up his passenger 20 mi east of Salsbury just outside Stockbridge he remembers the man well he had a bit it was little bit of Oda there

Man in fact quite frankly we can’t say positively what I can say is I’m fairly sure that the man seen at the fair and the man in langra Road are one and the same you will recall the description given of the man who had the lift by the

Lorry driver it’s not dissimilar to the man at the fairground in fact in fact he was about 45 to 60 years of age he had gray hair Browning and indeed he was described as having a long nose this was a feature about him and also a beard

Growth which indeed matched the man who was given the lift now the man seen at the fair had Spectacles on so if we look at our video fit we can see what he might look like with glasses on right now The Hitchhiker in the Lorry wasn’t wearing any glasses was he indeed

He wasn’t and indeed the man in langra Road wasn’t but other than that the descriptions are very very similar so what you want to do is for the man who was hitchhiking that ride in the Lor that day to at least come forward so you can eliminate him indeed we would yes

Well if we can recap on his movements that day the Lorry driver picked up the hitchhiker on Friday the 1st of June and that was just west of Stockbridge and at 7:20 in the morning they then traveled up the a30 and along the M3 and reached

Woking him at about 10 to 10 again that morning and the driver dropped him off in Wellington Road near to the fair there now do we know where he went after that we don’t but perhaps we could start by going back to the commencement of that journey and you will recall that he

Had a tachograph in his hand we can see it there as the viewers can see the reason I take you back there is because indeed this man may have been a lorry driver if he was uh other persons may have given him a lift from woking him if

In fact they did we’d like them to come forward we should say that anybody who hit left with one of the tachograph is saying to a Lor driver that that he’s another lry driver indeed that gives the indication yes uh in addition to that there was a conversation by this man

With the Lorry driver to the effect he was looking for casual labor fruit picking I’d like to hear from anyone who gave employment of that nature to a man of that description so somebody might remember picking up somebody with a tachograph because that was quite distinct indeed they might as we’ve

Emphasized with if nothing else we want to eliminate this man from the inquiry right now you’ve traced so far about 400 people who are actually at the fair on that day how many more people do you think you need to to see how many more people were there I can’t answer how

Many people were there but what I can say is I want to speak to every person who went at the fair that evening indeed let us be the judge of what they saw as to whether it’s of evidential value please come forward and contact us and

Do we love him and we still love him if he’s out there this is Mr Lee Buel so news for today this is Sutton just on greater London’s Southern border with s it’s close to where teenager Lee boxo lived with his parents and younger sister he was a popular 15-year-old school boy

Obsessed with football but in September 1988 he failed to return home after spending a satday yesterday morning with a friend he was last spotted here on Sutton High Street Lee and his friends spent a couple of hours that morning September the 10th hanging around the town center

See they’d gone their separate ways at 1: p.m. and Lee’s parents had expected him home around 5: we thought he went to the football 5:00 went 6:00 and so on I would was worried my husband just thought well maybe missed the bus train but I was really worried we was ringing the place

And hospitals and everything trying to find out what’s happened to him police in London say they’re now extremely concerned for the safety of the 15-year-old school boy Lee boxel the theory that Lee may have gone to watch a football match on his own was plausible and police launched a campaign

Involving star players calling on football fans to come forward if they’d spotted Lee but throughout there was confusion about which game he would have gone to and despite the publicity there wasn’t a single positive sighting of Lee in or around any of the football Grounds but Lee had been seen at 2:20 that afternoon on Sutton High Street which meant it was unlikely he would have made it to any of the football grounds for the 3:00 kickoff despite no further sightings his parents tried to remain positive we always hoped that he would

Be alive and well and would come home is the Nightmare and especially now it’s cold I think if he’s out there is he cold you know if he’s is he sleeping Ral is he you know I think all all different scenarios of what Could Happen what he

Would be like now but detectives also had to look at the possibility that Lee had been murdered and following new information officers began to formulate a theory centered around this church in Chim back in 1988 an Annex of St Dunston’s church was used by local youngsters as an informal youth club

Nicknamed The Shed it was well known locally as a place to hang out and over a decade hundreds of kids would have passed through its doors including Lee the original Club was burnt down a few years ago and replaced by this building now officers urgently need to

Speak to anyone who spent time here back in 1988 so they can confirm their belief that Lee was here the day he disappeared Lee doesn’t appear on any database is he’s never opened or accessed a bank account he’s never come to notice of police in his own name or

Any other name and I believe he came to some harm that day or shortly afterwards now your investigation is looking at a pedophile connection isn’t it yes that’s a significant line of inquiry we know young people used to gather at the shed and we know there were pedophiles in that area committing

Offenses at the time Lee went missing and had he gone there that s Saturday afternoon he may have discovered something that led to his Disappearance Lee’s bedroom remains exactly as it was the day he went missing his school uniform is still hanging on the Wardrobe but now his parents are beginning to face up to the possibility that Lee didn’t simply vanish that day but was killed we want somebody to come

Might have tucked away in their attics now when Matthew was talking to you there you mentioned pedophiles you think that that’s relevant do you we do yes we know there were pedophiles living in the area at that time and committing offenses and if Lee’s disappearance is linked to
