Hey y’all, just wanted to see what you are doing with your cardboard bike boxes while on a tour you flew to.
I’ve taken 2 trip via plane. On the first I stashed it in an abandoned lot, and the other I paid for a night at a hotel that would hold onto it.
I don’t like being beholden to a hotel the first night even though the security of knowing your box will be there when you return is nice. That $100 goes a lot further elsewhere on the trip.
What other options are there for stashing bike boxes?

Why not just get a new one at a bike shop?
Almost any city that receives international flights should have a bike shop that can give or sell you a bike box. I use Facebook or Whatsapp to communicate with them in advance, that way the language isn’t an issue, and you have something written down for when you arrive. In a worst case scenario, tv boxes are huge these days, and can be made to work.
