I bought a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 as a fitness bike in 2019, including a straight handlebar. I wanted to see if I have a passion for cycling. Guess what… I went down the rabbit hole.
I recently started upgrading the bike and plan to replace most of the OEM components with better, but still reasonable parts. So it’s not going to be a weird mix of an old endurance frame and a 2k carbon wheelset or a Dura Ace groupset.
But I want to improve the performance and give it a personal touch by keeping the Italian flair and going all Italian with the components.
The first step has already been taken: I gave it the handlebar it deserves. (Picture attached).
Here are my thoughts about other components that need to be changed. Let me know what you think, or if you have any good alternatives in mind:
– Wheelset: Currently using the OEM reparto corse, AlexRims. Looking to upgrade to: Campagnolo Zonda C17 for either about €400 new or about €240 used.
– Tyres: Currently using Vittoria Zaffiro Slick, 25-622. Looking to upgrade to: Pirelli P Zero 26-622 for about €80.
– Tubes: Currently using some noname product. Looking to upgrade to: Continental Race Light (not super opinionated about this becoming Italian).
– Groupset: Currently using Shimano Sora 2×9. Looking to upgrade to Campagnolo Centaur 2×11 for €550.
If it wasn’t for the Italian flair, I’d probably go with Dt Swiss instead of Campagnolo, Conti GP5000 instead of Pirellis and stick with Shimano. But this has become a bit of a passion project. So let me know what you think of the components I have in mind.
I’ll update this threat with pictures as soon as new components arrive.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
