I’m gathering parts to build up a stumpjumper carbon frame (not Evo) I bought last year and I’m a bit confused when it comes to the headset.

As far as I can tell it uses an IS42/IS52 headset but worried it might be slightly different or need something else. I found an article the other day (can’t find it now) that said I would need a few spacers, but maybe that was for a certain manufacturers headset.

I did find this Chris King headset (https://avt.bike/products/chris-king-dropset-5-42mm-52mm-45-45-degree-integrated-headset-for-specialized-only) that I think should work, assuming my frame has a different headset than the Evo.

I also found this wolf tooth headset (https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/products/wolf-tooth-premium-is-headsets-for-specialized-integrated-standard?variant=39263870877731). Not sure if the 2021 carbon stumpjumper is a separate product though since it lists 2019 Stumpjumper Carbon.

  1. Take it apart, measure the bearings and consult an SHIS chart to confirm which standard your bike uses. It will take about as much time as making this post.
