HI.
I am a noob just starting to get into MTB for real recently. I’ve been riding my 110F/100R XC bike on [this trail](https://youtu.be/atBXZmHIaeY?si=q13kLKKKhtxOFi5g). (Not me riding, the rider in the video is on a 150 travel bike, I asked him about it).
I really like the gnarlier section on there. Is 100mm good enough for the gnarly section? Or should I get something longer in the future if I want to ride other trails that contain **just the gnarly** bits?
Tho I am using 87% of my rear travel going down this trail, and 60-65% of my front if I don’t mess up; and 97% of the rear and 75% of my front if I do mess up (hitting a big rock, sudden drop, etc).
Should I consider something with 130/120 or 140/130 travel?
Thanks.

People rode trails with no suspension – common place before. While the geo is different on a trail vs XC bike you can ride anything you feel like riding as long as you enjoy what you ride. I’ve got a rigid fat bike I’ve ridden all mountain with. Do what makes you happy.

There is nothing gnarly on that trail which would explain why you aren’t bottoming the suspension on an XC bike. You could ride it on a unicycle and not be underbiked. I don’t think yo… Ahhhh, I get what we are doing here: making a case for NBD. Yes, you should absolutely have a trail bike to ride that.
I’m pretty sure I could ride that trail on a road bike
