Picture 1 and 2 are of the cheap bike. Asking 500 dollars, but will take less. He really wants to sell me this bike. I took it for a short test ride, and while it needs a tune up, it’s seems like a solid bike. I dont know bike that well, though I’m learning. This first bike seems like it’s worth the money.
Pictures 3, 4, and 5 are of bike 2. A more expensive bike. I’ve already talked them down to 1000, because that’s my budget limit, and they agreed before making me drive to see it. Story is, mother bought the bike during COVID, used it 5 times, and it’s sat since. I’m going to look at it saturday.
I just want to know what other people think? I don’t care about having disk brakes, other than it’s a more future proof thing. I live on flat ground, and will be using the bike for fitness, some light dirt trails around cranberry bogs. Also, just thoughts on upgrades? This is my first real road bike purchase.

I would suggest to keep on looking. You should find better deals than these two in reasonable time.
Edit: To elaborate on that:
Bike 1 seems to be in rough shape. No one knows how much you will need to invest.
Bike 2 is waay too expensive.
Not a complete picture of the cheating bike. So hard to recommend it. The newer bike looks very nice.
