
So I’m a bit confused on torque specs with this new carbon seat post I got recently from a cracked one.
Seat post says don’t tighten past 6Nm – but the clamp/collar on my bike has torque specs of 6Nm-8Nm.
So I imagine I should not trust the 6Nm-8Nm collar torque spec, and not exceed 6Nm for this specific post…
Would the 6Nm-8Nm then be the max torque that the seat tube on the frame can handle?
Also carbon paste (finish line – carbon assembly paste) doesn’t count as grease right?

Do not exceed the lowest max torque specified within the parts being installed.
Carbon paste increases friction and prevents bonding, it’s not grease.

Correct. Stick to the lowest spec.

From the way you phrased it, it seems 6-8Nm is the range for the collar, not the seat tube.

Correct.
Whenever you are putting a carbon piece into another material, carbon paste is required. Metal on metal you’ll want grease.
Go with the 6Nm. 8Nm is max for the collar/frame. I wouldn’t use carbon paste.
With carbon assembly paste you should even be able to stay well below the 6Nm.
Just mark the installation height so you easily notice if it starts to slip.
