I have an opportunity to buy this MSR elixir 2 for around 130 USD. Its around 5 yrs old, and the seams on the rainfly need to be redone. This is what enabled me to knock down the price from 190 USD.

IMHO, not for that price. It’s still a lot of work to do well so I would try and knock it to 100USD.
If you would be hiring out the work to re-seam it would take far more than 90USD.
Doing it yourself sure cuts down on cost but there’s still a lot of work on a critical part of the equipment.
IMO, no. You can get a brand new Elixir 1 for the same price. Wait for Backcountry.com or REI to send you a coupon and buy a new one.
