TL;DR: Which bike should I choose? Is the more expensive one worth the extra money?

Mostly paved/sealed roads, but will be stretches of gravel.

After riding 40km for the first time while borrowing a friend’s bike. I want to get my own! I don’t necessarily need maximum efficiency, as long as I can comfortably ride 40km with these.

I’m 185cm tall, so L – XL I assume would be best.

It will be used mostly on paved/asphalt but there will be short stretches where I need to ride through gravel. I assume both of these bikes will do the job, but wondering if the Avanti will be worth the extra money? Or whether they’ll just be the same?

I would go for the cheaper one as long as it feels good when you test it out. I assume both will need some kind of mechanical work (fresh tires, clean/lube/adjust drivetrain, etc.) which will cost the same for either bike. You could pay a hundred or so for that work.
