Happened last night on a normal ride. Tire somehow didn’t puncture so was able to get home but not sure what happened to cause it?

  2. Wearing the brake track beyond its service limits, over inflation or probably more likely a combination of the two.

Riding in gritty/muddy conditions will cause accelerated wear of the braking friction surfaces as will not periodically cleaning/servicing the brake pads.

What do the brake pads look like?

Neglect. Your brake pad has worn through the rim. Both are consumables and have wear indicators so you know when to replace.

  4. If your old pads were worn down to the metal that’s going to wear the rim at a much accelerated rate
