I’m sure someone makes an adapter some how but no this would not work on the down tube.
I have a 10sp Microshift thumb shifter on a Miyata 610 as a downtube shifter, and another set up as friction for the front mech
iirc I think I just plonked it down on the shifter boss – mine has a square base to it

I’m leaning yes – that this will work as well if the boss has this same base, just be sure to register it correctly so you get all your cable pull
I would go to your local bike coop and see if they have a downtube shifter. Or your local shop could probably order you some actual downtube shifters from qbp.
