  1. Hard to tell. If it’s not dented at all I’m leaning towards safe, however on the pictures it looks pretty bad…

    Definitely keep an eye on it, the coating might come off, because the top layer is busted.

    there are ways to fill and polish a fork stanchion that might be worth the effort. much cheaper than buying a new CSU.

  3. Structural failure is not the issue, if you continued riding with it like that then the dust wiper and lower bushings are damaged.

    If you didn’t keep riding then It can be deburred and buffed out to not cause further damage.

  4. At minimum, the anodize layer is cracked and the seals will never work properly. It’s hard to tell from here how deep the dent is, but I expect some dent with that kind of cracking. It could probably be ridden lightly for a while, but I personally wouldn’t.
