Excited about my first Ritchey bike, I took advantage of discounts on rim brake components in the last few years for this build.

Here’s a quick rundown of my bike:

• Frame size 53, optimised with a 17deg 100mm stem and compact short reach 38cm aero handlebar, 41 on the flared drops as I usually ride.
• I’ve chosen this size after considering all dimensions and components, for a perfect fit slamming the stem.
• It feels very light at 7.8 Kg (17.2 lbs) all included as seen.
• Custom wheels: 16 spoke Vittoria ceramic front rim discounted NOS for £35, Dura Ace 7850 hub set from eBay for £60, in excellent condition, like new after a good clean and regrease.
• I’ve machined the freehub body for 11-speed compatibility.
• Wheelset built locally with 20 spoke DT Swiss RR511 rear rim, new discounted to £25, and Sapim butted spokes. Build cost was £150.
• 28mm Continental 5000 tires with TPU inner tubes.
• Ultegra R8000 Groupset with Dura Ace 9100 brake calipers, and front derailleur.

I am also refurbishing my 2009 Cannondale CAAD 9 with new Dura Ace 9100 Groupset (minus chainset keeping the original) I’ve got for a great price a couple of years ago, cheaper than a 105 Disc Di2 groupset today.

Loving the deals on rim brake bike components! It’s a great time for these kind of builds if you know what you want.
