The [FFCT](https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A9d%C3%A9ration_fran%C3%A7aise_de_cyclotourisme) ( Fédération française de cyclotourisme ) is hosting a festival of cycling in Paris to honor [world bicycle day](https://www.un.org/en/observances/bicycle-day). The event called “[Ensemble à vélo](https://ensembleavelo.ffvelo.fr/)” will have about 4000 participants and includes a “concentration”. This is a ride where cyclist converge on a central point ( the national velodrome ) from all over France. After the bike tour there will be a parade on bikes that everybody can participate in.
If you plan on being in France this summer, the parade is on June second.

This event is billed as for FFCT members only but since the rides are all on public road and no support is provided you get nothing out of joining the FFCT or one of the member clubs. If you wish to get a licence I think the price for an individual member is about 60-100 euros depending on what insurance package you buy ( you have to select one ). You can join a club which might be a tiny bit cheaper. The “Voyage itinérant” is five euros and the picnic lunch at the end is 15.
Lodging in Paris the year of the Olympic games could be a problem. The linked article directs you to the “[comité régional de cyclotourisme d’Île-de-France](https://iledefrance.ffvelo.fr/)” for help with lodging. Given that 4000 people are expected to show up, don’t expect much. If you ask politely they may be able to arrange a mat on the floor in a gymnasium. Ask quick. There is limited floor space ;-).
