Today I bought my first-ever road bike for 60€ from the lost and found department of the City of Cologne, Germany (they do a big event every 2-3 months where they sell all the bikes that weren’t claimed after being found and reported to the police).
It’s a Peugeot Marseille 57 cm, serial number 9A86544 made in Canada.
The same color/model is on BikeBoom Peugeot under Brochures – USA 1990 but I don’t know if it is exactly from 1990 or older.
It has Nova Rigida Rims and Schwalbe 23-622 (700 x 23C) HS363 tyres which the brakes don’t reach.
Also, somehow it has a 9-speed freewheel which doesn’t fit the bike and the chain doesn’t like it either.
I was wondering if it is worth it to invest some time and money on it.
After reading different forums and sources, I believe this would be a potential basic shopping list:
– 27 x 1 1/4 (32-630) road tyres (30-55€)
– Sunrace SLR30 6-Speed (10-20€)
– Shimano MF-TZ20 6-Speed (15-30€)
Meaning somewhere between 55 and 105€.
Other stuff to make it look nice(r) could also help added.
I have no knowledge about bikes and would appreciate any inputs from this community.
