Rear wheel stolen… how to get the right replacement axel?

Hi there

My decathlon road bike run-around had its rear wheel stolen last night axel as well. I went to the a bike shop for advice but they’ve suggested that axels are often custom to the bike and I could need to get one specially made. This feels… extreme? Just looking for some advice on how to proceed. I’ve added a link to the bike (Triban 500 RC) below
