For a first road bike I wouldn’t get something with downtube shifters like what that bike has. If you are just learning to ride on the road you want to keep both hands on the bars as much as possible.

not recommended unless you want that bike specifically. aluminium in those days are very stiff and not comfortable. down tube shifters are also not recommended. looks like a 5 or 6 speed. bikes now start at 8. you will want range as a beginner, especially if there are hills.
lastly parts. the older the bike is, the harder it will be to get parts for it.
