Part2:
Day 3, Edelweiss BOE tour September 2023 Rothenburg to Heidelberg Today we passed through a true fairy tale landscape over to Baden-Württemberg, where the famous university city of Heidelberg is waiting for us. On the way, we see castles, palaces, monasteries, and beautiful half-timbered villages as well as a lot of quiet, green countryside. The first stop already offers a beautiful view of a deeply incised river valley, which we will follow for a while. In Jagsthausen, a village on the river Jagst, Götz von Berlichingen was born in 1480, and later became famous through Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. There is also a wonderful baroque monastery on our way. Here we take a break and be seduced by the treasures of the monastery pastry shop. After lunch, we descend down to the Neckar, one of the biggest rivers in Germany. The castle Hornberg sits high above the river and offers a wonderful view. It is not the only one, numerous castles can be seen on the hills along the Neckar, including Burg Hirschhorn, which even has a nice café and a cozy castle terrace. Here we take one more break and then follow the Neckar to Heidelberg.
