So I’ve worked on my gear load and have it down to 37 lbs. The 2 bags on the front messenger rack contain my Rain gear in a mesh bag and a 13L big river dry bag with my folded 100L duffle bag (for packing all the external bags for amtrak travel) and my iPad foliocase and electronics. Don’t need those for the overnight camping trip of 40mi each way to the closest state park that has hike/bike camp sites. Bike w/o any bags loaded is 49 lb. If I strip everything off to what it was out of box from LBS it would be 30lb. Only taking 2 meals and my Cook stove…need to use this isobutane canister eventually. Hope to get the rig out to ride around the block to make sure I can handle it. Then strip it down to what I’ll be riding on this year’s AIDS Lifecycle ride in June. If I don’t hate the bike at the end of the ride I’ll then plan to take amtrak up to Vancouver and ride the PCBR back to LA and take my time and enjoy it. Will only need summer clothes and light camping gear for that ride.
