  1. Hi all. So I’m working on this 3×7 step-thru 90s Hardrock and changed the pinned crankset to this Specialised Stongarm one, which has a smaller large chainring than the previous. The problem this has created is when I try to lower the GS200 front mech, the cage hits the chainstays of the frame. When setting it at a height that doesn’t hit the chain stays in the lowest gear, the gap between the mech and the large chainring is too big – creating a bunch on shifting issues like not reaching the middle gear shifting up and rubbing in the middle gear.

What could be a solution to this? Is new mech the only option? Got any recommendations for ones with smaller cages that won’t hit the stays (the routing is bottom pull). Shifters are Shimano SL-M315 7 X 3

I don’t really want to go back to the old crankset if possible. Cheers for any help!
