So I’m looking to get a cheap bike that will stay at my gf’s and I will ride occasionally. I’ve had drop bar bikes before but never a proper road bike (vintage mtb’s I’ve bodged into dirt tourers).
I would be really happy if I could fit 28c tyres in the bike (thinking panaracer ruffy tuffy).
The options are (prices are before negotiations, but sellers would probably not budge much).
1) Olmo Giro – probably a late 90s model. Dedacciai lower grade steel (nice paint and internal cable!). Shimano RSX 7speed groupo. 200£.
2) Ciocc Pryde – mid 00s I’d guess? Dedacciai energy TO aluminum tubes. Campy mirage 9speed group set. 100£.
3) Carrera corsa 14 – looks like early 90s. Rare Reynolds 708 tubing. Shimano 105 vintage groupset (seller said he might fit 105 STI flight deck brifters, though with this bike I think down tube shifters are the correct choice). 200£.
What would you do? 🙂

P.S intended use is non-lycrad day rides (probably 60-100k), and town commuting for the upcoming few months.
