A short 450 metre long green road to the east of Harlow in Essex. Not the most pleasant of lanes due to the presence of ruts on the soft natural surface. Can be quite overgrown too towards one end, links straight into North Weald Bassett Byway 23 & Byway 21 (see video ES 02).

Welcome to the byway Nomad my name is Tony Ferrari and thank you for watching my Videos we’re in Essex and today we’re riding the rather unimaginatively named magdan Lea byway number one I usually refer to it as rolls farm from a nearby farm and as you can see it leaves the Tomac Road on what was obviously once a sort of a Tarmac Drive um tac’s quite
Broken up now this only lasts as far as the property on the left and as you exit that you see the surface now becomes just an actual unmodified dirt surface and as you can see very rutted already um my advice is always to stay in the middle rut here um the leftand
One tends to get very deep and as you’ll see in a minute the right hand one will push you right up into the vegetation as we reach the tree line um very slippery um as you can see there a little stall when my foot pegs actually became stuck
On the sides of the the rut due to the low ground clearance on the 390 um it’s a pretty unremarkable Lane it’s not very long it’s 450 m in length and basically the TAC Road does a left hand Bend and this one goes around to the right so
Basically meets up with the same road you can see here the left hand rut’s getting much deeper the Hedge line has been cut back here so it’s not too bad today but now you can see it’s getting very narrow gets very overgrown in the summer and you have to push your way
Through quite often then it just flattens out and we come to the end if you look straight ahead there’s another byway and you can see that one on my video ES s02 which is north wield Basset byway 23 thanks for watching the video if you liked it please remember to subscribe hit that
Bell so that you get notifications when new videos come up and um have a look at the website www. byway nomad. co.uk and um maybe see you out on the trail someday this is the byway Nomad thanks for Watching
