  1. Please don’t play around with the most important system on your bike. Go out and buy a new cable if you’ve accidentally cut it. Yes, some solutions do exist, they’re called barrel ends or nipples, and they come with a screw that tightens onto the cable, but I don’t think they’re made for the forces involved in braking, and they probably cost as much as a new cable anyway, so why bother?

The only advantage I see is being able to fix your cable without detaching it from the caliper, but meh, you’d need to readjust the brake anyway to account for the shorter cable.

Very easy solution: new cable. Not sure what you expected the outcome to be when you cut the cable.

  3. I can think of something else. Buy a new brake cable.

The last thing you want when hurtling towards a hazard or obstacle is pulling on your brakes, only for your makeshift “brake cable end” to give up and fall apart. Way more costly than going out and buying a brake cable.

  4. I once worked with a girl who had an old car, she said sometimes the brakes don’t work, my words of wisdom to her were, “as much as we think about a cars ability to get us from one point to the next, and as much engineering has gone into make them go, the most important function of a car is it’s ability to stop. Get your car towed and fixed.” Well she didn’t, and needless to say i don’t work with her anymore, as much as I wish I did.

The moral of the story is that your bike is useless if it can’t stop.

  5. >is it possible to somehow tighten the cable inside the break without that cap

    No.

    >i cant think of smth else

Think about this: buy a new $5 cable.
