Hi all,
I’m currently running a 1×11 Sram Rival setup. Oficially, it can handle up to 42 in the back, but I’ve got a Sunrace 11-46 in the back, works perfect, absolutely no issues.
However, I feel I sometimes can’t find the perfect gear on flats, and sometimes I spin out on 42-11.
I was thinking about switching to Rival 22, left lever, deraileur and crankset – however, r22 has a declared 32 cog max.
With 50/34T crankset, I’d be loosing my current lowest ratio that 42-46 allows.
I know you about this [hack](https://bikerumor.com/how-to-hack-a-sram-road-group-with-eagle-derailleur-for-massive-budget-mullet-gearing/) with the cable fin from Rival and Eagle body/cage, there’s also Garbaruk cages, extenders and whatnot, but from what I gather these are meant to work on 1x systems.
What would you do? Is there a way to go 2x, without too many rare parts, and not compromise my climbing gears (that I reaaaally really need for when I’m touring).

just get a smaller small chainring for the r22, 30 or 32 if possible, and maybe stretch the cassette to 34t?
I’m in the same boat with Apex 1, and my best idea is to use a [Sensah Empire 2×11 rear derailleur](https://velo-orange.com/collections/derailleurs/products/sensah-empire-2×11-rear-derailleur), which is compatible with SRAM 11 speed Exact Actuation.
Personally, I’m going to go a different direction and use a SRAM GX 10-speed rear derailleur and a 10-speed cassette, keep the 11-speed brifter, and use a thumb shifter for the front derailleur. I just measured the cable pull on my Apex 1×11 shifter and it pulls the same amount of cable as a 10-speed exact actuation shifter. I’ll try to make a video about this swap in the near future.
GRX 48/31 – 11-42?
