If you’re running the same tires front and back, the front tire will probably be slightly skinnier and taller.

  2. The skinnier front rim will cause the tire to be skinny and tall as someone mentioned before, but what that means to you is the front end of the bike will feel nervous and hard to control in corners. The tire casing will flex more due to it being slightly less supported. This however is only a big issue if you are riding MTB trails and riding them hard ish. I currently have a 2.6″ tire mounted to a 19mm internal width rim and it doesn’t bother me. It’s on my rigid MTB so it’s light duty only. I don’t notice it. So I’ma hit you with a big ole “it depends.”
