Thanks to you legends I’ve been able to ID this Sun Tour Race bike used by the Australian Mainline cycle team in 1970 & 80s.
I’m now at a loss as to what I should do with it… should I try and sell it to someone who would love it and display it (no idea how much a bike like this would be worth) or maybe track down it’s original owners (who are now in their mid to late 60s…. Any advice on price or any advice is appreciated. Cheers legends, such a good community. 🚲🥰

  1. It may have value to a team member. Otherwise, it’s a nice bike, but nothing to get excited about. You could keep it and ride it if it fits. I doubt it would sell for much with a generic frame and old, non collectible components.

  2. The frame has some nice features, but I can’t see any tubing ID. It’s likely a very nice steel frame. The team name doesn’t mean anything to me in the US. It’s a nice bike, but probably not wild money, though better than what you get at a bike shop for thousands of dollars. For the right person, it could be a real gem.

To me the frame looks to be the same age as the 105 components, so late 90’s? The fork crown, cable routing and seat clamp are all late 90’s style. So this is maybe a replica of some kind?

In the US you might get around $300 if you found the right buyer.

If the frame is 70s to 80s then the components are non-original (much newer), so probably doesn’t have much heritage value as-is.

Probably a few hundred bucks for it tops.

Ya, definitely if it fits you, keep it and ride it for fun.
    It’s a beautiful looking bike.

It’s an ok bike but not an actual team bike. The components are not at a high enough level to be used by a pro rider. The rear dropouts and fastback seat stays are nice, might be worth something for the frame. The stem is pretty chunky/low end in my opinion, you could fit a quill stem and the bike would look more period correct. Research Mainline as the frame might have some collectibility.
