Hi,
I’m not sure if the people of Reddit are able to help me on this. I’ve acquired a BH Prisma Frame which had been somewhat repainted by someone and I wanted to experiment with.
The issue is I am having trouble getting the crank out – I’ve have taken the non-drive side out and based on the Google, I should be able to tap it out. I have tapped really hard and there has been zero movement. Oh I’ve done this with liberal amounts of WD40 too.
Any help would be much appreciated. And admin please remove if this does not fall under the repair rules.
Thanks 👍

Get a friend to brace the frame near the BB shell from the drive side and hit it some more.
Yah, there’s nothing else holding it in aside from friction now (and possibly a bit of grime/corrosion).
Mallet and a block of wood against the spindle should be good. But as noted by the other comment, get someone to brace the frame.

Really hope you didn’t get any into the BB bearings
Give the spindle some love taps with hammer
Bigger hammer 🙂
Put the bike on the ground with the wheels on, lean the top tube against your legs, and come down on the spindle with a rubber mallet or cover it with a piece of wood and use a hammer. Your legs and the tires will give enough that you won’t easily be able to break anything. One of a very few things that go better with the bike not in a stand, because you need to brace everything to not waste the energy just moving the whole bike around.
It’s hammer time! Set a block of wood against it and tap it out
What kind of “experiments”?
For the uninitiated, taking out the drive side crank could be scary, good luck.
