Hello, I tried googling to see and couldn’t find enough. I can just remove these plastic caps and install a rear rack right? Best way to remove them, I assume a knife to pry them out.
The 3rd pic is by the rear wheel, do pretty much all frames come with standard hardware to install there? Or do I need to source the bolts.
Sorry this is basic, I haven’t done any work on bicycles and just want to make sure.

Yes, you can pop those caps off to mount a rack. Some racks come with all the required hardware, but I’d check. It is easy to buy the right stuff at a hardware store. If you buy the rack from a bike shop they’ll probably be able to supply the hardware as well.
Yes those look like eyelets for installing a rear rack. Plastic inserts are there to keep debris and moisture out of them.
the rack might not come with the bolts, but they are basic M5 bolts and easy to source. watch some videos about installing racks. it’s not difficult but takes some time because the stays that come with the rack need to be adjusted and sometimes bent or cut to fix your particular bike. It pays to use a light threadlocker on the bolts so they don’t rattle loose and try to get the rack level. use a spirit level if you want to be extra about it.
Yep, as others mentioned they just pop out. One tip I’ve learned over the years is to lightly oil, wax or grease the threaded inserts if they aren’t painted.
I’ve seen these rust completely out on alloy frames kept in less than ideal places and they fall inside the frame and become a bike shaped baby rattle.
All trek (and probably Giant) dealers will have piles of those bolts available from kickstand installation kits. But all racks that we sell come with installation hardware
