I have a deore mt500 bb ([https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-t6000/BB-MT500-PA.html](https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-t6000/BB-MT500-PA.html)) and need to upgrade my crankset to either the FC-M8100-1 ([https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/FC-M8100-1.html](https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/FC-M8100-1.html)) or the FC-M8120-1 ([https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/FC-M8120-1.html](https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/FC-M8120-1.html)). I understand they have a different q factor but what are the other differences? Also, would I need to upgrade my bb? Thanks.

They have different chainlines. 52 vs 55. This will be something your frame is designed for. It’s likely 52. You won’t have to upgrade your BB. Hollowtech II is Hollowtech II.
