Hey all! I just had my first snow ride on my gravel bike today (just through the city) and my Tufo Speedero tires tended to slip and slide quite a bit on this type of partly packed lumpy snow. I was curious if I had tires with more pronounced and spaced out threads if it would make a significant difference or unless you get studs, they are pretty much the same..?

I think any tire will slip in those conditions.
That’s ice, my guy. You need studded winter specific tires for that.
Actually I’d go with as wide knobby tires your frame can take with low pressure . (Tip from a Swedish dude that commutes all year round and have several weeks/months of snow). But yeah when it gets nasty the only thing that works are like schwalbe ice spiker pro (MTB tyres with knobs and spikes). However I usually skip studded tires. Running 40mm Teravail cannonball at the moment. Ok but far from great.
If you want the best bet (you’re still gonna slip sometimes) get studded tires. From my experience putting them on the front wheel does 80% of the work. I usually go only studded front and regular rear tbh
