When I started seeing stuff I I had assumed that it was just some wild rumor and then I when I looked into it a little bit I was like oh no this is coming from real legitimate sources that he and then of course I think it was Ali

Gold and a couple maybe Paul ke tweeted out that he was gonna be in the squad and I just assumed he was gonna be on the bench and then when the lineup comes out and he’s starting I I just was I was I was I jaw dropped because one the

First one was you know a little bit of fear of their rushing them back but then you know I said well obviously maybe I have to have confidence in in an I don’t necessarily have the most confidence in our Medical Department necessarily over the years haven’t really impressed uh or

At least seemingly not not that I have the inside scoop on it and maybe it’s just a outsider’s frustration as a fan but yeah I was I was astounded and I said what a huge boost that’s got to be I know it’s not gonna be completely fit

To go 90 but that was just a huge huge boost for everyone it was it was amazing that he’s come back I just can’t believe from someone who was not expected back until I think the original forecast was like February right so and then he’s showing up at late December I mean that

Is a huge acceleration of the timetable and and so I think most people were almost excited and then concerned as to whether he’s coming back too fast but he seemed to get I mean he wasn’t sharp but he seemed to come through fine with his

Almost hour of work so I think that’s a that’s that’s massive I mean it’s is massive for the for the squad Ash what did you think of friend call Performance he seemed I mean the general Vibe I got was most people thought he held back a little bit but

Hardly surprising given his last his only start since his injury he got injured again well I watched it back twice the first time I had the same reaction as everyone else but then on second viewing I thought he moved the ball very quickly there was one time he

Passed it into Johnson and even Johnson wasn’t expecting that ball in that in that channel and he was a bit slow to kind of get on his bike and if he’d been on a same wavelength as Benton cor maybe he was used to the balls that hyberg was

Pushing through you know hyberg might like to take a touch slow it down a bit but literally with Benton cor it’s his mind that’s what it is it’s his vision he actually sees the picture a lot quicker and there was times when we were playing out from the back this is when s

Was on by the way that when we were playing out the back we went through Bon core he was so comfortable and because he knew what he wanted to do before he received the ball he paid it first time and it helped us to kind of navigate our

Way through that initial first press that Bournemouth tried to oppose on us and we’re able to to transition nice and easy from the um goalkeeper from that backline into the Midfield down a channel and start somewhere attack so overall I was quite happy and even still

When it came to the first goal his challenge was vital in picking up that ball giving it um the cell St with the Second Challenge again two South Americans they’ve both got tenacity it was good to see in that Midfield it’s good to see that kind of you know Rhythm

You know a different type of Rhythm a different type of energy in that in those pockets and no wonder s got onto that ball and scored a goal because you know the players backed off they weren’t expecting him to shoot and he did end up

Back in the net so may long it continue Bon C for me even on a bad game because people were looking at his missp pass places sorry his missp pass um passing for me like his his ones that he got right helped us immensely if that makes sense

So for me like just having him in that Midfield that lifted the whole of the stadium and I think that fell back onto the players and that just made us actually play very well for me for the first 45 minutes people were saying first 30 minutes but I thought like we

Were on top and if someone like son put his chances away because it was a couple chances that that fell to him we would have been maybe two-nil up in that first half yeah Steve did uh when you saw the team did you almost spill your um Pink

Champagne well I didn’t the embarrassing thing is if only the cheese room had somebody sat basically in the tunnel you could have seen him arrive um so I I saw skip arrive I ah Skip’s back in the squad um and I went back to my food uh didn’t didn’t look up

Again and obviously he just totted past me but um yeah like surprise and you know SP M on did no one in the tunnel Club notice no one nobody commented no wow it so yeah you guys are you guys you guys are real in tune in there aren’t

You oh we all over it mate umir Beef Wellington days everybody was a bit Fairington um yeah I I was surprised I was happy as well because I think and a few people said it’s on social media we need needed up Buzz as well because we’ve had what two months now of in

Since Chelsea we’ve had injuries and suspensions and it’s almost every other week we’ve got another player out injured or another player suspended and to get him back early I think was a lift both probably both for the team the players and also for us um and you know

Ash said I think he I think he played well um I watched the highlights cou Downs as well he had a good game and somebody said in the chat I can’t have a think yeah he was instrumental in our first go yeah abely I think good

Game yeah so the F the first goal Ash it just um obviously bentle won it and then Lela with a little sliding tackle fell to S and he just just kept moving they just didn’t attack didn’t close him down did they yeah so for me it was like my

Biggest critique of start at the moment like he’s been doing amazing by the way and he he deserved that new contract that he just picked up everyone was buzzing for him everyone’s happy and you know people are saying you know he’s worth 70 million or even excessive that

But my biggest critique was he needs to score goals and the last time he scored was against Manchester United and I was expecting that type of Saw to be bursting into the box adding goals because I don’t want to rely on our front three or just son or Richie do you

Know what I mean if we’re going to be serious team we need to have goals all over the park so when he picked that ball up I saw son open his body up hey I’m here baby but he just carried on and he just opened his body up and he just

He saw the corner like the space opened up and he just put his foot through it and I was so happy for him because like there been times when he’s been shooting and it hasn’t quite come off for whatever reason and I’m like if you’re not going to create goals for the team

Because you know we always say that’s Madison’s job or obviously Madison hasn’t been here lately l s ‘s job or kulu’s job then I need to see that attacking intent from the other eight if that makes sense I know he’s box tobox but you can’t just be a defense a

Defensive midfielder we’ already got the six we need something from the eight added to me in my opinion so yeah when I saw him score I knew he can do it he did it in France as well for his club that he was um that he started out on so I

Said there’s no reason why he can’t do it for us and so yeah when he pulled that first goal off and caught bourou sleeping um I I was so happy I was happy I don’t know if anybody else C this you know the old school FIFA

Games yeah you couldn’t really run in a straight line it got a big zigzagged like he didn’t know where he was running running that way and then he that was great I was screaming and I was like do something for God’s sake and then he shot him and he scored obviously

Was really happy for him I had the same both both my son and I said where’s he going and I and I and I looked at I said I’ve figured what he’s assuming that he’s going to get pressure he’s going sideways to like maybe play with Johnson

Right or slip that pass down to the by line for Johnson cutting in assuming that you’re going to draw someone out and then he turns and says well if you’re not going to come at me then I’ll just face up and boom and and you’re say you’re good to see them actually hit

Have the Finish because that has been uh that that’s something that takes a lot of actual time on the on the practice pitch as you just hit that shot over and over and over and over again till it just become second nature and if he does

That you’re he’s going to be a huge threat he go that’s what you go from 70 million to 120 million you know transfer value type of situation and and I’m glad you mentioned the contract extension by the way because I think it is fantastic that the club’s being proactive and

Locking up both he and Yogi early getting those deals done long term making sure that if anyone wants to try and you know proy them out of the squad it’s going to be prohibitively expensive even if they could so I think that’s I think that’s good proactive um work on

Behalf of the club I’m glad to see that by the way yeah I just i’ I’ve left kab’s comment up here because it I just reminded me of Barry Davis in the 91 cup semi-final of using him by not using him anyway sorry got a bit retro um what I

Did think Ash was he he just sidef footed it didn’t he he didn’t go for the laces so he had that control into the bottom corner a lot of sar’s shots which have been from 30 OD yards he tend to blast it and it’s gone miles wide or

High or anything yeah yeah I think it was um a case of him getting it out of his feet as well so getting it away from his body opening his hips getting his head down a bit as well so that like you said the side foot shots more controlled

And he could just guide it into the into the net you know the space was there like um you guys were saying before they’ve backed off of him and allowed in that room and that space to shoot and it it’s quite interesting because I think Defenders find it hard if you don’t run

In straight lines if you run in straight lines it’s easier for a Defender to stand you up but if you run at an angle then it kind of bues you time because you’re thinking is he going to lay it off is he going to move this way or that

Way and so he kind of disguised what he was doing by running into that space running into that pocket and and then having that shot um into the back of the net yeah okay so we’re on N up well on top we had a couple of other chances first one from memory was

Johnson racing down the right and he crossed it for son Stevie who made an absolute hash of it what what did you make of that uh I won’t repeat the language but it wasn’t great it was it was poor wasn’t it from Sun and I

Know we’ll get it in a bit and he scored a great goal and he was okay um like a weekend but when he did that I thought this is going to be another more recent some performance I think he’s been brilliant this year and I love him but I

Was like he’s just been a bit off and I don’t know whether he’s tired too much pressure carrying an injury or what God knows what but he hasn’t quite been the same player in the last two games um when that just ballooned off him for his uh it was poor he should be

Getting out on target as professional yeah footballer as a top level professional footballer that should be on target difficult chance to score but controlled it oh yeah he had time yeah he had a lot of time although to be fair does he really know who’s behind him

Maybe not so I don’t mind him taking off but at least hit Target yeah I think he backs himself to make that shot though I mean in other words he is he he knows he’s one of the most clinical finishers in the world and he he’s he should know

That I can I can take this one time out of the air and put this on Target and he just it just wasn’t there so it that’s what you know everyone says oh in retrospect you should have brought it down but you know at the same time if he

Had hit it one time and you’ve seen him make that shot before it’s not like he’s never done it so it’s it’s not surprising he tried to one time it and to be fair I think that full Pelt wasn’t he he was sprinting into the box it’s probably an uneasy ball

To take down if it full p and is pinged across for Johnson wasn’t it yeah yeah and then we almost had the opposite effect where son got put through and you could see son kept looking over at Johnson and Ash I couldn’t quite understand you know Johnson’s supposed

To be one of the fastest players in the league whether it’s injury in his head I don’t know he just the The Defenders made up more ground than Johnson did whereas in the end son had to go for himself and was blocked but what’s your take on Johnson the

I feel personally like he’s still getting to the grips of the way and the style that we play and this new system that we’ve got a new coach at the moment that he’s trying to get that philosophy across him I need you guys in the box if

It goes to this guy I need you on the end of it because a Winger I need a strike the other the other Winger effectively turns into a striker um and that’s what he needs to learn like you need to be on the end of these things

You can’t just stay in your position you need to make that gut busting run and you need to be able to uh finish that off so sometimes I just think in his head he’s not quite as sharp there yet but when he plays a few more games I

Think he will start clicking I honestly I think he needs like about a season needs about a season and then also I just feel like as a young man I feel he needs a bit more aggression about him he comes across to me as a bit of a nice

Guy a bit of a you know softy Welsh lad brought up nicely stayed at Forest all his life coming to the big cities a bit of a change of scenery and I just think as time goes on and he gets more confidence then he will start doing those things automatically because right

Now he’s kind of holding back on himself there was times as well before and in other games as well when I’m like hit it he’s taking a touch put it in first time but he’s just thinking about things a little bit too much instead of being instinctive and I think that’s what an

Wants an wants players that I can’t speak for him but I’m just going off the back what he said from what I’ve researched he wants players to be instinctive so it’s just natural he doesn’t want to tell them too much what to do and then also he lacks bravery and

So sometimes as a player or forward player you just have to gamble you just have to gamble in those moments you just need to be there just in case the ball comes into the box you need to be on the end of it and put things away and I

Think that’s what it is for him it’s just him understanding and knowing where to be compared to where he was at Forest and how he was coached there yeah Steve so halftime game one n we’ve obviously had a few games where we’ve got one n up and then the

Opposition have managed to gradually get the way back into game beginning the second half okay every game Bournemouth seemed to be getting on a real Foo hole in the game second half what was the view you got one of nerves it was pretty nerve-wracking it it was interesting we had a uh

Bournemouth fan sitting near Us guest one of our mates and um he was you could see he was quietly getting into the game in the second half um and he’s feeling more and more confident until was at 71 minutes whenever Sunny scored but I was I was feeling pretty worried particularly and

I hate to say spury thing but Ren Rich charison went through and he really should have scored when he missed out thought this we all know we’ve all been here before right you know we one up we’ve got chance to go two up we we it

And then they go up the other end and score um and then we lose so I was getting pretty nervous kind of early on in the second half even a two- nil I was a bit nervous to be honest but um but that’s the way of being the Spurs

F yeah I mean interesting because rich I was obviously at Brighton um thanks for lovely gentleman sorting out couple of tickets for me um and Richie had two disallowed goals there and both of them were really good finishes so I was really really surprised when he shanked

That chance because it was very similar to the first goal he first dis out goal he had at Brighton as well um true but didn’t have to wait long Jack for two-nil say again you asked me what didn’t have to wait long for two know it’s funny no that that that’s the

That’s the finish that we’ve come to know and love all of these years uh decisive and absolutely you know clinical finishing that gives no goalkeeper really a shot at all at at at at at stopping that so that that’s I was going to I was actually going to track

Back a little bit you’re I always I mean Ashton you you said you watched it back I M you watched it back a couple times my feeling was and you said this in your comment that I felt like I was nervous starting pretty much what SAR came out I

Felt we started losing a foothold in the game they they had 12 shots that first half they just couldn’t put them on frame they had way more touches I think it was like 23 to 15 touches in the Box uh stats don’t tell you anything but I I

I was I was feeling that they were they were unlucky they should have been disappointed not to been you know at least equal even with us going into halftime um and I felt that carried on through like you’re saying into the second half until until somehow somewhere I thought we really did start

To because we really dominated from from a from an attacking standpoint in the second half really came back but I was nervous the entire time I I I couldn’t decide whether or not how much of it was bornemouth is we have to accept right now is a really quality Squad with

Playing exceptionally good football and they’re going to give everyone trouble um even if we even if most fans don’t know they’re starting 11 outside of you know a few players like slanky and or whether it’s that we just you know we’re running on fumes and as soon as we’re

340 minutes into a game you know guys are getting gassed and getting tired not tracking back not picking up their men because they they were they were definitely uh I thought on top towards that second in the end of the first half well into the second um that was my

Feeling for for that I mean I was like Steve is saying I was not comfortable the entire time I can’t say even at 3 nil even at 3 n i was you know my dad’s watching with us and he doesn’t watch near the games that I do and he’s he’s

Like oh this is kinde of comment so that should put it in the bag and I just turned to him and said I was at your house at the West Ham game when it was three nothing at 82 minutes at the Tottenham hots for stadium so don’t talk

To me about this game is you know well in hand I’m never like Steve I’m never really s satisfied that we’ve got anything in hand um when it’s when we’re watching Spurs but yeah I I really felt like born I couldn’t decide how much it was just us not connecting passes we had

Low pass accuracy throughout the match how much of that was us or is just Bournemouth is just a really quality team this year and they’re going to give trouble I said they’re gonna give everyone a bad bad time if I can reply I would I reckon that it was a bit of both

I think at times we lose control because we’re trying to be this fast transitional team um playing out from the back and I think sometimes we lose that control because we’re trying to be frontf footed but at a super high rate and then I think credit to Bournemouth

There’s a reason why they won seven out of nine and a reason they beat Manchester United at home at Old Trafford I think their new United aren’t very good well yeah well you say that but and it’ll be interested to see what happens but anyway that’s a different

Subject all together um I just felt that on that left hand side I thought cly and sinisterra used to play for leads I think I thought those two were exceptional on that left hand side they were running the channels they’re giving us all sorts of problems but then what

They did really well was even though they went to their left they sometimes would switch it to their right that’s what Spurs don’t really do too much we don’t do switches of play so what they did sometimes they passed the around put it into the central area and then did

Rack reverse passes passed it through the middle so it wasn’t just coming down the left they kind of quickly two three passes switched it up and that’s what kind of gave us some problems gave us some trouble because I’m thinking what as Tottenham not pressing well what we

Do is it us or is it I had the same question Jack I had the same question as you are we is it Tottenham but you have to give credit to to Bournemouth and their coaching stuff for the the patterns of play and how they set up I

Thought they were excellent in that game they were away from home but they were giving us so much trouble and I thought if San had his shooting boots it might have been a different score but credit to us we had chances as well that’s one thing I did watch back because when I

First watched it I had that kind of feeling and I watched it back I was like actually if someone puts his chance away if Rich charison puts the original chance away then we could have run away with it as well so it was a game where whoever took their chances in my opinion

Wins the game and sometimes you need to win ugly like we’re not always going to batter teams do you know what I mean some times we’re not going to perform at that super level but hopefully the the the the team and quality that we have we’re able to put these um other teams

Away and I think I think it’s a it’s a big help that more and more of the league is playing football other words even even as you get down to the bottom of the table they’re opening up they want to have patterns to play they want

To build out of the back they want they want they want to do all the things the top teams do and I think that favors as long as ANS is a manager I think that favors us significantly as opposed to you know the half your games against the

You know Burnley with Sean D approach just to you know make it difficult ugly and impossible to get through because I think still that that that that is not no one wants to watch those games where you have 73% possession 36 shots on goal and just trying to get one through um so

I think it’s a big advantage that those clubs are going to start opening up their game and playing that way I think that’s better viewing of course for everyone and I think totenham I think it favors us to your point because once once we have people are healthy and we

Had a whole season of playing in these this system things like you’re saying will become more natural hopefully Johnson will make that run you mentioned that that benj cor played the past and Johnson wasn’t ready for it and that won’t happen in in the future and you’ll

Have a lot more lot more opportunity to put teams away early get up three nothing in the first half and be done with it yeah St Steve you and I were discussing earlier today that bourou had clearly um targeted out their left wing our right back area what was your

Thoughts on how porro dealt with it not particularly well um I think he had his worst game probably since Southampton is it was Southampton wasn’t it his debut his leester waser when B got injured leester yeah remember VY and um the other kids bonds and even medicon sorry I saw so

Many away games last year where we lost they all kind of one I um yes I I thought he was pretty poor um and he wasn’t as good going forward but and I noticed this pretty early on and as she mentioned about it he was puffing hard from about 20 30

Minutes um in the game so I think he’s just shouted he’s played a lot and he’s like he just he runs up and down a channel constantly doesn’t he um so I just think he’s a bit um a bit exhausted but we’ve not really got anybody well the only person

We’ve got to put in there is Emerson and obviously Emerson’s playing Center back moment so yeah well I think I think the I think stats sometimes can be misleading but when he’s probably outside of Madison the best passer on the team potentially and he completes

Half of his passes I mean he you know 21 of 39 basically you know that’s that’s a sign of fatigue in my mind I know when I play you know I’m I can path really effectively and in you know the first half the second half often balls start

Getting a little little squirely on me so I’d say you’re right I think his his workload is really starting to show and and you’re like it’s horrible to think that you want you say oh he needs to be rotated but then you say okay then who you bring in you realize your offense

Just collapses on the right side as good as much as I appreciate Emerson every and and admire the work that he’s put in the last 12 months to become a really you know good footballer and and and an adequate you know role player for this team you know the difference in drop off

Is just so huge um but yeah I think I think that’s a fairly good assessment I think I attribute it more to fatigue than than anything other than that and you’re right jack especially if Johnson there right as well yeah he’s not he’s not taking players on and kind of going

Into his space so you got he’s not tracking back either in my op I think him and Emerson would not be a good comeback moment can I just add to that I just think that going back to that passes stat you were saying I think the

Reason why a lot of those passes might go astray is because you see players they make Progressive passes but Progressive passes doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re making risky passes um so for me when pol’s on the ball he’s making those riskier passes that can split the lines you can get between the

Lines those passes and so when you’re trying to do those riskier balls sometimes they don’t come off it looks like it’s a pass that you know statistically looks really bad but in fact he actually needs to do that type of ball to create something for the team

Or was front three or front four at times and if Emerson riy was there he’s not making that some same type of pass he’s making a progressive pass but it might be a short pass someone that’s next to him and I think that’s why fans look up porro as the complete footballer

Or better footballer than Emerson who’s more defensive or defensively suited in my opinion I agree with that 100% i i i there’s no question his pass accuracy is not gonna be you know Harry Wink’s going sideways and backwards at 92% right so and you you’re never you’re never

Goingon to have a pass accuracy but 54 for me they’re number ones that were just it looked like he just didn’t wasn’t didn’t feel himself didn’t feel himself but I agree overall you’re right the goal is not to have a perfect pass completion which means by definition you’re not taking any

Risks Also to clarify part’s debut um which I got wrong um and apart from over the weekend I do think par has been you a bloody good player for us um he’s come a long way um so yeah I’m very happy of him being our first

Choice yeah I I I I I like to say I I’ve not gotten a lot of projections predictions right at all but I I do was banging the drum last year and at the beginning of this year for for po por is an example of he’s such a gifted athlete

And good football all he needs is good coaching don’t tell me he can’t play right back in a four there’s nothing that I ever saw about him I you know that could that told me he wouldn’t be successful as a right back you could defense is about effort and and and

Reputation and repetition and intelligence and he seemed to have all the attributes to be a great defender as well as going forward so I never bought into that he couldn’t play outside that traditional Wing back role that he could play in a four and I’m and I’m glad once

I got one prediction right it seems and just to further showcase my love for him before got more pelters in the chat you know Romero bit nasty probably a bit too nasty at times Ben Ander love his passion passion like he’s a bit nasty on the pitch and Par is as

Well and I like that and I think over the years we’ve been missing a contingent of kind of like those nasty players who’ll put put a few tackles in and we’ll get stuck in um and it gets the crowd going and just makes it every

Team f a bit more I think of just being a bit of a pushover and I think he’s I think he’s good at doing that kind of wearing I’m coming cliche not know but yeah wearing a heart on his sleeve and actually kind of like giving a on

The pitch um and I think we’ve missed that a bit at times yeah Paul saying Johnson needs to understand the runs he can do for S and bentor and por I think for all them to feed him but obviously it was Johnson run that led to the third goal which was

Very similar to the the to Richie’s goal against Everton from memory it all seems a very long time ago before um Ash talk us through that third goal um yeah it was it was a good goal um I’m just trying to remember the buildup before it because I thought the

Buildup before it was quite interesting but yeah Johnson’s doing what he does best he’s making those runs he’s running in behind and what I like about him especially which people don’t take or give him enough credit for is that pass that he just whips across the box and

Makes it so easy for that Striker just just to kind of put their foot on it place it Cipher it in and makes it look like an easy goal but again we haven’t had a play like that on the right that can be that consistent and deliver those

Type of balls we’ve had keski on the right who’s a fantastic player but at times he would get to that position and I felt like this season especially his decision making wasn’t always the best one for the team but sometimes cut back onto a stronger foot and put it onto his
