You don’t need to be a professional barista to tamp flawless espresso pucks with one of our tampers. Our self-leveling tampers create precision coffee pucks effortlessly. All you have to do is choose the handle style that suits your personal taste.
Decent Espresso partnered with Wiedemann in Germany to produce a series of gorgeous wood-handled tampers called “Wiedecent.” Like the original aluminum-handled Decent tamper, their inner spring puts the ideal amount of pressure on your coffee grounds to produce a beautifully level espresso puck.

Hi everyone! Today, we’re going to go through the V5 tamper. You can see from the looks of it, it has not changed in its trusty design, but what has changed is the ability to customize. Let’s have a look at what we can now change in terms of handles.
So I have the regular V5 here with the aluminum handle, you can see, it has the Decent logo on the top. Here in this box is our new version of the handles in collaboration with Wiedemann – we can have a look inside with our new packaging.
We have chosen to display the new olive version of the V5 tamper. The only difference is that we changed the design inside the handles, so you can now fix new, hand-crafted handles. Not only have we changed the handle to this beautiful olive,
And there are others that we’ll show in a moment, but because this is a collaboration with Wiedemann and Decent, we have called this the Wiedecent tamper. Right now in front of us, we have the whole range of the V5 tampers:
On the left-hand side, we have the black full aluminum handle, right next to it is the smoked oak, and the one in the middle is all walnut, here is the regular oak, and the one on the end is the olive version. Is there any weight differences between the lot?
I’ve actually weighed these all out, and to my surprise and to my delight, they were all within very small differences of around 10-15g. It’s really cool to see that no matter what your preference in terms of handles, in terms of weight and in terms of how that translates into tamping,
It will not change, so it’s really a choice of which one you prefer and which one will match your DE1 at home. Some of the features of the V5 are very similar to the V4 in that it has a leveling tamper. This leveling plate simply rests on the basket
And ensures you have an even tamp every time. Along with the leveling plate, it negates the need to hone your skills to ensure you have a straight tamp. If you’ve not ever tried to hone your skills in getting an even tamp,
It can be a little bit of an uphill climb. But once you get there, it’s like riding a bike. But this is designed so you don’t have to struggle, and you immediately get the results of a good extraction. This is a very no-fuss tamper and very easy to use.
So we all love our customizations; whether it be an espresso or the actual tools we use, we can actually have that choice to match whatever we have on our bar with the esthetics that you have in your surroundings.

Just got a v5 tamper there at Christmas. It's so much handier than the older models; the self levelling element just takes away that 'is this properly level?' question – that usually took me peering at the freshly pressed puck to make sure I'd not messed it up.
Hi, just interested in tamping 'depth'. Is this adjustable? For example, is there a potential for the tamper to bottom out if there aren't enough grounds in the basket? Or is it designed to tamp deeper than necessary? Cheers
force tamper looks a 1000000x better than this
Price ?????
The olive wood handle is just gorgeous!
I just wish there wasn't such a large Decent Espresso logo on it
