Recorded meeting aimed at residents of Hertsmere and Watford, as well as professionals and volunteers who are supporting and/or signposting older adults in those areas.
So this is the getting active in Harts Meir and Watford um meeting and the aim of this is to bring everyone together um in order to hear about the wealth of opportunities that are going on across those two districts so there’s quite a lot to hear about and hopefully that
Means there’s going to be quite a lot that will be really useful and interesting to people on this call um so my name is Charlotte bird and I lead something called live longer better in hartfordshire and that is um part of our movement to get more people more active
More often um so I work in partnership with um the local Authority people that we have on this course we’re really really fortunate we’ve got Harts smir B Council and Watford B Council we’ve come together for this webinar as well um and they have been fantastic in in bringing
Everything together and having a lot on offer so one of the things that is really useful in the county and it’s not just in hars mford it’s across the board we have something called healthy hubs um and healthy hubs um are different in each area so we’re really lucky we’ve
Got joyy with us today and joyy is going to speak through what’s on offer in Watford and Harts over to you joyy thanks Charlotte so um I’m J bani and I’m policy manager for health and wellbeing here at hars burough Council um I look after our healthy hubs in the
Burough and I’m here here this morning to tell you about healthy hubs in harer as Charlotte said they look um a little bit different across the county um but broadly speaking healthy hubs are a One-Stop shop providing free health and well-being support to Residents across Harford sh um there are there are
Healthy hubs across all 10 districts and borrows which means that there are services available in both Hearts me and Watford which are open to all residents over the age of 18 can I have the next slide please so um what is a healthy Hub um all healthy hubs are able to provide a
Signposting support uh service um to clients and residents in addition to advice and guidance um and this is on a wide range of health and well-being matters and they’ll be more on this in a minute um healthy hubs tend to be based at inclusive community um spaces which
Are easily accessible for residents um and we’re also a provider of Public Health Services um and again a bit more on that on the next slide please so um our healthy hubs aim to take a holistic approach to ensuring that we support residents with all of their health and well-being needs and
You can see on the slide some of the um services available whether you’re looking to manage your weight or get advice on how to eat healthily or give give up smoking um the your local healthy Hub is there to support you um through those processes um ensuring that
We are to collectively um achieving your your health and well-being aims um and you can also put I mean most of our healthy hubs are Dro in some of them are appointment only but um that you can find out about events and activities in your local area um as well
As um get referrals into um public health services such as um reducing drug and alcohol um use or access NHS health checks through your Healthy Hub um next slide please you so the most important bit is where you can find us um in um hars Meir we have four permanent Hub sites um
Based AC cross the burrow so we’ve got two in bornwood one at your community Hub on Leeming Road and one at 96 Shenley Road and you can see on the slide there um the contact details um for those hubs um all of that information is also available available
On our website so don’t feel that you have to scribble it down right now um we also have hubs at the williot center in Potters bar and at bushy grow ledge Center but in addition to that we have a series of popup events um and pop-up clinics across a month all over the
Burrow so whether we we can be at bornwood Food Bank on one day and be at um a coffee morning the next day so we we do make sure we get out to about um the healthy Hub in Watford is based at the Town Hall um and again you can see
Some contact details on the slide slide there um and but again that will be available on um watford’s website um that’s all for me I think it’s back over to you Charlotte thank you so much joyy it’s hard to condense it all isn’t it because
There is so much that healthy hubs do um so that’s really useful and I didn’t mention earlier but we will be sharing all the slides as well so hopefully that might be helpful um for people to refer back to thank you joyy um so another really uh useful service we have in
Harford chair is an online activity finder called moving more and my colleague Lindsay um is leading on moving more and she’s talk to us about how we can use it hi a so first thing I will say is that the slid and the screenshots of the website you’ll see now will look
Slightly different to what the website is actually going to look like in a couple of weeks because we’re in the process of a massive relaunch which will happen on the 5th of February where the new website will be launched along with the app um and it will all look brand
New it’s got a new just a new Fresh Face top but it will work in exactly the same way um so moving more is a stand below website to the heart Sports partnership website um it is a physical activity finder so we want this to become the go-to place to find activities across
Heart F year uh it doesn’t matter whether that’s a walking club or right up to Marathon running we want everything in between we are also in the process of working with some GPS and social subscribers in the area for them to be able to refer and prescribe
Directly to the activity finder um Jo the next slide please so um the website uses open data to pull in all the information there’s two ways of uploading your data the first one is via uploading it yourself via open sessions or the second way is if you already use a
Provider that uh things like Legend Gladstone things like that they already pulled their information on so um for the likes of Everyone Active which we appreciate at look on there there are a lot of Everyone Active activities on there and they have been brilliant at opening their data but what I’m trying
To do now is Target our smaller sessions and our smaller providers um your little um village uh like yoga sessions that are held in Village Halls your smaller clubs um which is where they can use the open sessions so the great thing about open sessions is that is essentially
Just free marketing for you um I like to refer to at least healthy option but the Uber of the activity world so you can go on there you can search for your activity and it will list all the activities within 40 kilm or you can set
Your radius as small or as large as you want within your post code um so youve also don’t need to have a booking website or a specific like book when or a specific website that people can book through you can do you can put your details on the open sessions um site so
You can have your number your email address or a link to your booking form on there as well so essentially we’re creating the website for you for people to be able to contact you and book um and then hopefully it will increase the amount of people that come to your
Sessions the date we’ve looked at so far says that um it increases session uh participation by about 20 to 25% so you know we know we know it does work um there are improvements obviously to be made and there’s things that London sport who um created the website
Are looking at and they’re working really closely with us to help progress it and add extra things on to it as we ask them um so yeah is it is an absolutely fantastic website what I’ll do is I’ll stick a form in the chat and that form is if you have got any
Questions or if you want to upload your sessions or know of somebody that wants to upload their sessions they can fill out the form and it comes directly to myself um and hopefully if you want to come to the relaunch which we do webinar at some point mid-February February
Sorry we haven’t got an exact date yet um I can send you the details across for that as well you can see how the new website works and we’ve got the guys who created open sessions and who played who created the activity finder website they will be they’ll be on the webinar as
Well um so yeah it’s an absolutely fantastic tool that we’re hoping will become the go-to place across the hall of hartfordshire to look for activities thank you Lindsay thank you um so if you want any help on uploading your sessions Lindsay is the girl to go
To she can she can guide you through that process um but I’m pleased to say it’s quite simple I’ve managed it so um that’s kind of you um getting your sessions on there and then from user perspective you can find lots of sessions on there too um but to give you
A taste of all the different types of sessions that going on we thought we put them in this webinar for you um so I’m really pleased to hand over to car Caroline Ro and Caroline is our Sports Development officer in Watford at Watford Bar Council and there is so much
Going on in Watford so no one better place to tell you about those than Caroline over to you Caroline okay thank you Charlotte um yeah I will go probably quite quickly through these slides but um if you want any more information then my contact details will be at the end
And also on each slide we’ve got the contact details for the individuals that are running the um session so the first one is a walking football session that’s run um on a Wednesday between six and seven it’s a drop in play pay and play um no ability you don’t you know it is
Out there for those that are just trying to get back into the football um and it’s at the Watford Girls Grammar and it is free at the moment um next slide okay so again just following on from the football theme um we we have a Parkinson’s walking football session um
That’s on a Friday 12: to 1 um and that’s at Woodside ledge Center on the new AST Turf it is also free at the moment um that runs seasonally and the contact details you go through the contact details through fighting fit football um and you book through their their
Website um again staying with the football theme this is another session that fighting f um football run it is Parkinson’s Pacific again and it is a 5 S aside football that’s at the Dome at the Watford football club and that’s on a Monday at quarter past 8 till qu to 10
Um there is a contribution that is made there but it is a yearly contribution um that people make just to keep them sessions sustainable um got moving on to cycling so this is um just really the cycle Hub um what we’ve done is sort of try to put
Everything into one slide um but the cycle Hub um that’s based in Watford it’s based at the holwell if people don’t know um and it it does offer a whole range of different activities from Adult Learning cycling um which includes women only um confident boosters um and
Also they um help support the guided social rides and Breeze rides which are led by volunteers uh prices are different so for courses is individually they’re priced different but for the guided rides they are um free um and they’re generally run at the the weekends also through the cycle Hub we
Um we have a program which is um the Tria rides um basically this is we have TR shaes um and they are par assisted they’re run by volunteers and what we do is we link up with Care Homes and we take out people out in in the bikes um
This also individuals can now book so there is a booking system that’s on the um cycle Hub so it is open to groups and it is also open to individuals so if individuals want to book a ride um then they can do that through the cycle
Hub back to netball is back to netball so the idea of these sessions is it is about getting people back into a sport that they can relate to um and in this case we’re using netball so we have a session on a Monday 6 till 7 um at the
Rockford Girls Grammar the cost is6 you can actually go on to the England uh netor website and you can actually book The Sessions and do sort of a search through the England netel um website to book again there’s another back to nille session that is run at uh Watford legis
Woodside on a Thursday 7 till 8 again the cost is6 um and that both of these sessions are aimed at at getting people back into sport so there there are ladies there that have not done net ball for 20 30 years there are some that have had an injury and they’re coming back
Into the sport but it is a mixability but it’s a fun session to to um just get active basically um so these sessions um are strength and balance sessions that we run so we run two of these that are communitybased Le um they’re at the hollywell community center um the cost
For these ones are5 pound um but you do get your first four sessions free and the details of the bookings are done through Sam um and like I said these are communitybased pay andplay um drop in strength and balance sessions um this is line dancing um so
At the Meridan at one of our community centers we run line dancing on a Monday 2:30 to 3:30 um and the contact details is the um individual instructor there cost is6 pound seed chair base so this is again at the mean Community Center um it’s a seated chair base um exercise class
Wednesday’s 10 to 11 it’s low impact um and it’s at the Meridan Community Center so this is um again building on the strength and balance classes so this is a program that we run in partnership with everyone active and wford Community Housing Trust um and we’ve got various
Um sheltered housing schemes that are involved and at each of these sessions like Dale Court poly tree Eastbury summerplace Rutland House woodfields we run um a a strength and balance class for the residance so this is actually for the residents of them sheltered housing um however it is you know it is
About trying to promote these sessions with in the the sheltered housing and also if there are more sheltered housing schemes it’s about seeing if we can expand this offer across um other schemes and do you mind I just very quickly chip in that um the strength and balance programs is something that I’m
Particularly passionate about in terms of live longer better because they follow evidence-based f prevention exercises so Carolina’s got a fantastic um plethora of strength and balance classes in in Watford um and and they really help people feel quite confident on their feet and reduce their Falls and
We’ve done a survey with them in December and 100% of the people that attended the Watford classes said that they it’s helped them do more physical activity outside of the class as well I just thought I chip that in and I will be sending you the report Caroline
Because it’s a glowing one okay good okay so um acted together okay this is the session that’s run at the orbital Community Center by volunteers um again it is a play and pay session um and what what they do is they have like a class session at the beginning which is R by
An instructor and then um they follow with with Bonton or tennis or table tennis um afterwards it’s 5 p a session um and the individual who runs this uh contact details are there so if anybody wanted to take that up um Nordic Walkin so Nordic Walkin this is um delivered
Through Nordic Walkin Watford um so on a Tuesday um outside of all of the Nordic walk-in offer we we’ve done some specific targeted sessions um and so on a Tuesday we run a community walk uh which is 10 till 10:45 it’s low to moderate um ability and it’s at casber
Um Park um before you do the Nordic Walkin um there are what we’ve also done is that you do need to do like a a competent um Walker a course basically but again what we’ve done is we’ve we’ve downscaled um a course for the community but again them details will be on the
Nordic walk in Watford um email address uh women’s only badminton so this session actually came out of a healthy Hub um popup session that we did within the community um and there was like it was something that the ladies wanted so it is at the what for Girls
Grammar there is a coach there um that can give tips and advice but it is a drop in session we because the numbers grew so big um we’ve actually now expanded it to two sessions so we have a beginner session which is 8 till 9 and
Then we have an intermediate which is 9 till 10 and sorry to but in again but am I right in thinking there’ll be a no strings badminton starting in Watford soon in so if people were um not able to make this one keep their eyes out for a new one
Starting um yeah we have there is funding that’s been secured um what that looks like and where is still yet to be determined but yeah yeah so keep your eyes peeled for another badminton session um so this is um in partnership with hearts y so Hearts wise run
Dementia Community hubs um and basically what we do is we add some Sport and physical activity to them sessions um so we go along to each different session so on a mon in 20 minutes late but you can listen in yeah yeah it’s good what sorry
Um so on a Monday it’s at the Go’s community room um on a Tuesday it’s at stanbra and on a Wednesday it’s at Quaker’s house um and and what we do is they do lots of different activities they might do dance one week or they might do archery or they might do seated
Or strength and balance so it’s a whole mixture of physical activities within them sessions so the getting together clubs again this is a partnership with Watford um Three Rivers TR um these are sessions again that are run within Watford they’re sessions that are primarily they are getting together
Clubs for older adults um but what we do again is ADD um the physical activity element to them sessions So within them sessions you know they might be having a talk about um I don’t know safety or something but also on a regular basis they will have physical activities so
Again that will include um dance archery bows um bxa um seated um but again we’re taking that physical activity to them sessions to the getting together clubs um so yeah um right I’ll hand you over now to the football club which is shaa um who will go through the um activities that they’re
Offering on mute sorry hello hi everyone I’m sha from Watford football club or from the trust um so I’m going to talk about extra time so extra time is a socializing group for older adults um 55 plus it’s ran on a Thursday morning from 10 till 12 um the session involves things like
Seated exercise bowls bingo games just to get everybody in the community together um to sort of help reduce social isolation um it’s 4 pound a session which includes refreshments and yeah it’s just a lovely little group for people in the community to come along to it’s on a weekly basis
Term time only um and it says here that it’s three pound but that’s not right it’s four pound there we go um and you self refer through the website so if you go on the Community Trust website you’ll see extra time um as a program and
You’ll be able to get my contact details email and phone number on there okay we go to the next one this is again extra time but we we also hold it at the Meridan Community Center so that’s every Tuesday from 10: till 12 that’s not we’re we’re working on it at the
Moment I’ve just sort of taken it over really so at the moment it’s bowls and just refreshments and it’s just a little space to come to but we’re hoping to grow that now um I’ll be working on that over the next few weeks so it should sort of reflect what whats actually look
Like at the moment so yeah that one’s 3 p a session and again self faral through um the website you’ll find extra time you’ll find my details I’m go to the next one walking football okay this is h a new one to me I I shortly will be taking this over as
Well um walking football is on Tuesdays 10: a.m. till 12 it’s moderate exercise um so anybody can come along um it’s three pound for a session and you’ll contact the Meridan community center on the number on the screen to self aare on to the onto their program and Golden Memories this program
For people living with dementia um it’s for them their carers or loved ones to come along every week it’s term time only the sessions include things like former player um appearances we do outings once a month so recently we’ve gone to places like uh Wembley Stadium we go to garden centers
Many different places um we do seated exercise quite often um we started to introduce a little bit of walking football um someone say something no okay um and this is on every Monday ter time only from 10:30 till 12 again this is at B Road Stadium
If you want to self-refer my details are on the screen but again it would be the website and you’d go on gold memories and you’d find my number my Conta details and yeah any can come along with M moderate denture and it’s just a lovely support group for people that are
Struggling in the community Shape Up Shape Up is a 12-week uh weight management program for adults looking to make small changes to their lifestyle um it’s suitable for as you can see on the screen adults with body mass index of 30 plus um it starts fairly low intensity increases as the
Weeks go by shap up have seing quite a lot of um dramatic changes for people’s body weight and also their confidence so it’s a fantastic program to self aair on to and you would contact Tom hoisa at swfc um also again if you go on to the
Website you’ll find shape up in a certain area and you’ll find the details there to have to sare this is even evening time Thursdays from 7: till 8:30 p.m. active W on free Rivers is to help people be motivated it’s a sign post into activity for anybody over the age
Of 16 um this is ran by Alison goodchild she’s the health and wellbeing manager um the activities uh include I think it’s just general exercise as far as I’m aware and it’s tailored around individuals so people have different weights they they will um they’ll tailor the program around
Them thought I’d um ask because I know Allison’s on the call Allison did you yeah she might be able to give you a bit more about the program did you want to chip in with anything Allison on this put her on the spot no worries if not I’ll go on to the next
Slide which is to Everyone Active thank you sha that’s okay sorry oh Alison is there she said she needs to change device oh don’t worry Allison that’s fine Caroline were you going to come in yeah I just wanted to say um I think if I’m right on the shap up I think there
Are still some spaces available and we’ve got a course that is very soon to start running so if anybody does know of anybody that would be interested in that program then um I think there are some places that are still available question please sorry can I ask a
Question I’ve got I’ve got a lady that lives in haml Hemstead do you have to be a Watford resident to turn the shape up or is there equivalent in heo because there is a lady that I’m working with who desperately want wants to lose some weight so at the moment you know the
Answer to that one um so at the moment The Shape Up is for men it is a men’s program um however with regards to if you have a lady I can’t hear anything I think Ian is this one is particularly Watford base but shape up they are doing
It in other locations but I’m not 100% sure which ones so if you drop me an email after um I’ll make sure we get the answer for you for in terms of heml that’s a good question thanks can I jump in quick really quickly Ian um Tom
You’re on this call at the moment are you able to give Ian any more information yes I Tred jump in but I think my connection’s not great in here I’m having problems um can you all hear me yes we can hear you yeah okay yeah so
The um I think Caroline touchs on it but yeah the Watford ones are only for Watford residents because that’s we obviously only get the funding from Caroline and the Watford Bar Council um in terms of the heml one so obviously that comes on the chorum they’re only on
Uh we we work with four different GPS and we’ve got a waiting list already um but if you want to email me um the details are up there um because if it is you do find that that person um that’s interested could come under one of those
Four surgeries um we could add them to the list and then potentially in April they would be able to do our course okay I let lady don’t to go into too much Det but she’s waiting for she has to lose some weight before they’ll consider gastric band surgery so it’s quite
Important for her to actually get to that Target weight before they will consider to so I’ll email you separately Tom that’s right yeah much Ian thank you and I could share this the recording of the um decorum webinar that we did too if that would be helpful um so quickly
Moving on to Everyone Active we have Leanne with us um just got a couple of minutes to talk through the things ever night have got going on is difficult to do in a couple of minutes because there is quite quite a lot so over to you lean
Thank you morning everyone um sh have the next slide please um as Charlotte mentioned my name is lean from Everyone Active I’m the activity and well-being manager um as you can see here just setting the scene we have Watford Central as well as Watford Woodside so
My aim man of the role is to focus on getting people active as part of the weekly routine as well as promoting exy to prevent long-term health conditions um we have assessed the Lo what with the residents and by this we have done by identif identifying programs to help
Encourage people to make a life change and to participate in physical activity so I will go through a few of the programs next please so we have uh GP referral so it’s a 12we program that has touch points you have a week one assessment and this week six a followup
And an evaluation so the program really is to aim to get people who are not physically active to get them moving and obviously this will in turn to improve their physical mentor wellbe being it is 2249 per month includes swimming classes and gym membership after the 12 weeks
You do get exposed to the what other um activities in the center so we do um including the membership includes walking activities such as net ball um Bon and um also good boost which I’ll cover later that’s included with the membership so with the gpy this is just
A list of the healthcare professionals that that can refer you on to the the scheme it’s just physiotherapists you know social prescribers and yep than SL um so obviously with that to protect all the patients information we do have to have it through a secure link which
Is there and I can send that out as well so online referrals is important to get it through to the system and once you’re through there someone will contact you and you can get booked on so as well as G refer there is a a few other programs on the center so the
Main one is quite popular further fit it is an aerobic mixt of aerobics program to help individuals cardiovascular fitness it’s broken down into a 20 minute aerobics 20 minute um stroke training and then a 20 minute strength it is fun and got music to help you go
In so and they also have sort of like a community base as well because everyone knows each other and it’s done five times a week at Woodside as well as four times a week at Central so we have other T so we have Aqua therapy classes this particularly focuses on those with muscular
Conditions and that’s on a Thursday Thursday and Tuesday at 8:00 a.m at Watford Woodside um we have a wellness Suite as well this this provides a social and non-intimidating environment which allows people to exercise at their own intensity as well as to suit their health needs they are um basically power
And machines to help build your strength and fitness and also helps with joint mobility and balance and coordination and this is bookable on site so we have Zumba Gold and this is done at both sides adapted to the 60 plus population and it includes a lot of coordination Mobility routines and also
Jazzy music um as mentioned earlier we do have good Booth um these are sessions done in the pool instructor Le sessions which um the individual it follows a tablet that suits the individuals um muscus scal conditions and this is done in the pool as well as um landbased if
You are on a g for our membership this is included um if you’re not it’s not a problem you can just pay 4 pound 50 per session as a Dro in uh Watford Woodside is known as a msk hub so we are sponsored by good boost and we do have
Activators that can help you develop through the program to help with your joint back or hit problems it’s just a little video playing there next slide please oh there are all the slides I had actually an did you want to speak through anything else on your list sorry
Yeah um so just uh we just we do have because of the the slides were from last October we do have other sessions going on so we have do have forever forever active sessions every Monday 9 or 12 it’s a mixture of badmington pickle ball and table tennis and um this is at
Watford Woodside we also have pickall sessions on a Thursday from 11 to 11: to 1 um so it’s just trying to promote all the other sessions that we do promote it’s just new sessions we we’ve introduced in November so if any questions please give me a chat or drop
Me a line whenever you can thank you so much lean it’s quite a lot sorry I tried to cram it in sorry Charlotte could I just ask Leanne something absolutely yeah could I just clarify lean the GP referral a referral can also come from other professionals Y and the 12 week
Program do the clients pay the membership during that time of 2249 a month yes they do um because then they could they’ve got access to the you know to swimming classes and the gym throughout that time and do they book on through the Everyone Active uh app yeah or can they just turn
Up to one of the Woodside or the central centers they can do that but booking is preferred what what many people try to do is once they’ve attended a session when they finished they booking at reception straight away in case you know it’s just easier for them that once
They’re done they can book on booking is preferred but they can um turn up but there is quite a few sessions that are quite popular sure and then if they aren’t paying the 2249 a month membership they can just turn up it’s £450 a session so 450th
Session is for good boost but um other sessions will differ in price but um L I can send you a list of the activities that’s included with the GP refer membership so I can set it to Charlotte and that no problem thanks for your question Louise it’s always good to double check
Those things um I I’ll share that list um with the recording and the slides and things so that’s really helpful um Barry pleased hand over to Sophie now from sarson because there’s a wealth of old ad activities at Saron no you don’t just do rugby hi yeah thank you Charlotte so I’m
Sophie and I’m from sarason’s foundation so we’re the charitable arm of sarson’s rugby and we uh go out into communities and do lots of different things so I’m the project officer for love to dance and love to Fitness and I’m just going to talk to you about a few of our
Classes that we run in Watford and Harts Meir so uh we’ve got one in Abbott Langley and the dance is for over 50s and it’s to get every one together moving it’s for absolutely anybody that wants to just enjoy some music have a lovely time make some friends and then
Normally people well sometimes go out for tea and coffee after we have also have tea and coffee during the session so it’s a nice way to catch up and meet new people within your local areas in your community so they uh the Prices range as well so for an hour and a half
For this class in Abbot langle it is £560 on a Monday lovely if I could get the next slide thank you Charlotte and then we have a class in Potter’s bar uh the same price um with tea and coffee in the middle of the class and that is on a Wednesday
From 1: to 2:30 p.m. and we also have a class in brickworth that is £560 every Thursday so you can pop down there today if you fancy um and that is from 1 to 2:30 in the afternoon Lovely I think that’s the Bor and wood one now my my end perfect thank you um and then we’ve got a class in bornwood and that is at the same price of5 p60 every Friday from 10: till 11:30 and we have a class in Watford so
We work with Caroline on this class um so that one is £350 and that’s 2 hours class on Friday from 12:30 till 2:30 lovely and we also have a love to Fitness class so slightly different pace from my love to dance classes these are an hour and they’re 5 pounds for the
Hour and it’s more um upbeat keep moving through the whole hour as opposed to where in your love to dance class you’ll do a warmup and then you’ll learn a dance throughout have little breaks every now and again more of a social side of things whereas love to Fitness
If it’s you’re someone that wants to challenge a bit more on that Fitness element you can do that in Potter’s barar every Friday 12:30 to 1:30 and we have free trials so if you would like to have one class free and just have a
Little go and see how you get on um just email me and I can send you all the details and we can get you booked on or you can turn up to class and our teacher can help you book yourself on so lovely and we have lots throughout the year
Lots of different opportunities we just had a big Christmas party um so we had 270 people attend so everyone gets down there we we perform at Tottenham hsur which we’ve got coming up in March and then other smaller events throughout the year that we like to try and get to to
Perform as well so Sophie I was gonna mention that as well because I’m always in awe of everyone going to Tottenham Hots that you perform perform around the edge of the pitch before the match it’s it’s quite amazing to be part of so um yeah thank you so much for sharing that
Thank you so much thank you and then we’ve got um Health walks which also are countywide so these are across both Watford and Harts Meir and we have CLA with us so thank you so much CLA um you’re gon to tell us about some of the local walks there’s all different levels
Isn’t there CLA there there absolutely is thank you thank you Charlotte for inviting Health walks um here today Health walks is part of County Council and we’re part of the countryside and rights of way Service as part of County Council and we offer walks across across the county but specifically in harsmar
And Watford we have 14 different walks available to you they are all free in terms of their social walking groups and in terms of the walks in harsmar um they range from 10:30 or 11:00 and the time varies um the locations vary from Cali Hill to Bushy
There are four Walks from The Potter’s bar train station and of course that sounds like maybe not so interesting but you go through some lovely road um lovely streets and we take in as much green space as we can and from Potter’s bar we go into Oak Park and then there’s
Another First Steps grade one mixed ability walk from the oir library and again all these walks are free and the first steps walks so we have one in C Hill and bushy these are really aimed at people who are coming back to physical activity after maybe illness or injury
Or they’re also really good for people who used to walk you know long and far and fast and maybe they find themselves slowing down a little bit so next slide please yeah so here’s our spec some specific details about our walks in C Hill which we’re very pleased we’ve been
Able to expand because lot um the walk first steps walk had been going on for the past nine months and we’ve managed to recruit some local people who live nearby to become our volunteers and that means we’ve been able to offer some extra walks that are longer and faster
So again on the Mondays there’s the two options um 10:45 or 11 and still with the first steps walk and that is from um St Michaels and all Angels Church or aberford Community Center which is in the heart of the community next slide and finally going back to Watford
We’ve got three walks available to you all of them are from cbury Park and they are I mean you’ve got a grade one two mixed ability walk and then a much longer progression progression walk and so again everyone is welcome and if you want to find out more just email the um
Person the named officer on the screen and again they’re all free you’ve got a volunteer at the front a volunteer at the back and um they lead the way and often at to dat we haven’t lost anybody so everyone gets stay everyone stays together and often there are times
Opportunities to go for um hot drinks and coffee and continue the the chat after the walk and that’s it for me thank you so much Claire um yeah they’re really great um levels so it kind of caters for everyone and we’re trialing um a bulk upload to moving more. co.uk
Thing we mentioned a little while ago um so the health walks are in the process of getting uploaded because there’s more than a hundred across the county isn’t there so and that’s with London sport at the moment so you’ll be able to find a breakdown of all the different grades on
The har County Council website and then hopefully in a week or two I’m moving more as well let thank you Claire sorry let me just add if you are looking to find walks now you can just Google in the browser you know harer Health walks you’ll get on to the harer health walks
Pages and all the timetables um the area timetables for Harts Watford and you can find a walk close to home um by going through that process as well in the meantime for now that’s great that’s really great um thank you so much CLA um and now people on this call who are from
Harsman might be feeling a little bit left out because we’ve only had a few harsman ones now and you’ll be pleased to know it’s your turn um I’m very pleased to hand over to Helen who is our community Sports officer for hars M Bar Council and and Helen is going to talk
Through again a wealth of opportunities available in Harts thanks Charlotte morning everyone um so the first one I’m going to talk about is weu shimu it’s actually 10 years old this year um we’ve got a weekly program across the borrow um of lots of different activities from yoga Pilates
Zba and pound which is a drumming website um not a website it’s a drumming CL a class where you use drumsticks um all information about those can be found on the we she moves website um they’re sort of gentle to moderate activities um and specifically aimed at women um next slide please
Charlotte um so I just wanted to focus on like one of our specific um wiu shimu which is golden dance it’s a dance-based fitness class on a Wednesday afternoon which takes place at Maxwell Park Community Center in Bor andwood it’s 5 um you can either book on the website or
You can do pairs you go with our lovely instructor an next slide please Charlotte um another yeah lovely thank you um is we’ve just recently received some money from sport England to do a targeted approach in Oak and pobar so at the moment we’ve got three sessions running
Um in Potters bar with a couple more to come online in March so we do taiichi on a Monday day um which is really slow lovely activity if you haven’t um been active recently or wanting to looking to get back into it or even if you have
Been active it’s really nice um it’s really relaxing great for your mindfulness we also do a Zumba on a Monday evening which is a little bit more upbeat but again is suitable if you haven’t done anything for a while um and we do a yogurt on a Tuesday evening um
They are2 if you live in Oak or5 for non-residents and again you can either book and pay online or you can just turn up and pay as you go um back to bows is a weekly session at abord Community Center and Bowling Green um so we’ve got indoor and outdoor
Bowls um facilities so we’ve got an all weather Green which um we didn’t use yesterday because it’s very very cold at the moment but generally from March to November we can be out on the green or if you’re not keen then on we set up the indoor balls real lovely social session
So we have lots of people um come and participate but we have a few who just come and watch and might participate from time to time um there are chairs around obviously inside and also around the edge of the green so if Mobility isn’t that great and you need to sit
Down then that is a really good option for you it is a free session and runs every Wednesday pretty much apart from the Christmas week um the strength and balance class in bornwood is run by stevenage football Foundation um it’s great if you wanted to increase your confidence on your feet
Obiously has spoken about earlier there is the exercise and the science behind the exercise and it’s really help um people to live independently um and it’s on a Tuesday 10 till 11: and again is another free session um so I just wanted to talk about a couple of um classes that Tracy
From midal movement run these are dance classes um she does two she does this one here at El court and she does another one in CT Fosters on a Wednesday 10 to 11 um she um as she described the class it is light to moderate it’s lot L
Of fun um it’s very non-judgmental and6 for this one and for the one in cot Fosters and her details are on the little information box um so I just wanted to mention um some chair yoga which is taking place um got two specific dates with the spiritual center in fulcon Road in bushy
And so they’ve got two sessions coming up in the end of February early March these are6 um this is great if you’re not very stable on your feet or even if you are it’s also great because it’s um a lovely yoga session in a beautiful very tranqu environment um I would really
Recommend right and then um finally for me is just our hearts wide session so um as mentioned uh Leah these are sessions for people um who have been diagnosed with Dementia or and their carers um there are two sessions run in hartsmere this one is on a
Thursday afternoon 2 to 4 at St John’s and then the next one is at um Bournewood Youth Football Club on a Thursday morning 10 to 12 they’re B5 per week and for more information um you can contact Hearts wife direct the worker and Marie who delivers the sessions is
Very personable and really gets to know the people that she is working with um for another one that we would recommend thank you this is a manual yeah thank you Helen thank you and um so with amarie as well I I used to know amarie in my previous role I
Trained her to be a chair based exercise instructor and I’m calling her out in the webinar because um she can definitely do chair based exercises she was very good at it um so I I also Echo what you said um Helen and Mar is very supportive um thank you Helen um so
Emanuel did you want to give us some information about inspire all which is um a brilliant Leisure Center in hartsmere yes please thank you very much um good morning can you hear me yes fantastic um so yes my name is Emanuel I’m the Sports Development lead from
Inspire Ro um Inspire Ro are Ledger provider and we work in partnership with h Bar Council so being based in Hearts Meir we manage multiple Leisure centers um Sorry Charlie do you mind go to the next slide perfect so again um So based in bushy we have the bushy Grove Leisure
Center based in borm Wood we have the venue Leisure Center and based in Potter’s bar we have the first bu Leisure Center we don’t have a center based in radlet but we do have many of our users travel travel in from radlet um so looking at generation plus
Which used to be called 50 plus that is a program of activities targeted towards the the older adults um one thing I will say is um many of our users are are in the early 40s so don’t feel that you have to be 50 60 plus to attend these
Activities um just again going over the range of activities that we do offer um they really do range from um Zumba to pickle ball to binton droing sessions to taii to line dancing um I didn’t want to create too many slides because there are 40 plus activities but um there really
Is a lot going on walking football walking net ball um aquaerobics there’s so much going on the best thing to to do would be to inv to visit inspir ru’s um website or or just Google inspir Ru generation plus and one of the first searches should be generation pluses
Activity program um for the most part is Monday to Friday um based and some things are free I can up to S7 pounds depending on the um type of class it is um one thing I also want to point out although ultimately this is targeted towards um physical activity some of the
Activities on the program are heavily based towards socializing so for example we offer um we have Bridge droing sessions we have art droping sessions and we also have board game droping sessions so um you know more of a socializing aspect for those sessions but also as well as that when we are
Talking about bowls and table tennis and other activities as well a lot of the time with those sessions we have half halftime um um breaks where we have coffee breaks and our memb social have a chat as well so it is trying to Target both areas of phys physical activity as
Well as the socializing as well um so that’s generation Plus in a nutshell um really good service um and lots of members as well as that um those sessions are not just delivered at our leure centers so for example in borm Wood we also do deliver out of alam Hall
And we deliver out of Maxwell leure Center so we make use of the community centers as well as um in the Bur um in pot bar for example we use Elm Court as well so if you do feel like you don’t want to attend a massive Leisure venue
You can come to a local um Community Hall as such and we have something going on there as well but the best place to see exactly what’s going on would be the generation plus program timetable which you can find online by all means in the contact details I can see on the um
Slide you can email me personally if you have any questions um for the area that you’re based in so that’s generation plus I haven’t got a slide for the GP referral scheme but inspire all like Everyone Active do have a GP referral scheme um being delivered out of our
Censors in the far and it runs again from listening to um lean it runs extremely similar a 12we program you can attend the GP referral scheme on a pageo basis or on a monthly membership basis um and for the most part you’ll be matched with by one of our GP
Specialists and they’ll take you through all of the um the consultation period um and set up a a bespoke program um to support you getting back into activity and ultimately to achieving your goal whether whether it is weight loss whether you’ve been referred in by um
You know a therapist as such um with a with a with an injury um we do have that service as well um so that’s that’s ins spiral when it comes to generation plus and the GP referral scheme we are also a deliverer of the healthy Hub service um
I did see that slide on here elsewhere I wasn’t sure if anyone on the call was going to touch on healthy H and hearts me I’m happy to do so if I think um joyy mentioned the locations for the harsmar healthy hubs earlier um did they did
They um ring true with what where you guys are delivering too absolutely I must have missed that I do apologize but um again being healthy deliverer inspire all we have our healthy Hub space in bushy at the bushy leure Center in po as well at the willot theater and in
Bornwood mtic Shen Road y that’s great I will just double check that we’ve got those on the slides before I send them out but I I think if my memory serves me right then that’s that we’ve got that that’s brilliant thank you so much Manuel um so yeah I
Hope that you’ve definitely discovered um I was going to say one but I feel like you would have discovered 10 new different activities that you didn’t know were existing before this we’ve got two minutes left so I’ll just um check with Lindsay if there was any burning
Questions in the chat box that we we wanted to mention now um no it the only ones that were in there were just um Ian I don’t know if you’ve seen the messages in there from Caroline and Allison about the shape up for females so just have a quick look in there in
The chat and there’s informtion for you in there um other than that no else good well thank you so much for coming everyone I do I just muted myself I don’t know why I do hope um you found it useful and you discovered some new things um and you
Hopefully you’ll be able to take advantage of some of these things and we’ve got lots more coming up in the pipeline in terms of what F and harmi so when you signed up if you selected yes and then we’ll keep you up to date with some new things that happening um I know
My my colleague Charlotte Stringer is working really closely in Carly Hill um so she is your girl to go to to if if you’re in that area um so oh I didn’t share the last slide I made this last slide on purpose so that you’ve got our contact details this is our contact
Details um if you want to speak to Caroline um for Watford Helen for heartme or Lindsay in terms of getting updated with moving more um and getting your sessions uploaded um then there are the contact details but I will share these slides afterwards as well and the recording will be uploaded to our
Website so all sorts going on um if this webinar hasn’t quite answered something that you were particularly hoping for um then please do drop me an email um and we’ll see if we can find um that particular thing that you had in mind because it’s impossible to fit
Everything into an hour but I think we’ve done quite a good job fitting quite a lot in so um thank you everyone really appreciate it and hopefully we’ll see you soon at Future event thank you very much Happy New Year thanks everybody Happy New Year thank you
