As said, I want to start commuting to work by bike for health reasons. It would be a mixed 18 km trail, 1/3 of it would be hilly and 2/3 flat, 70% of the trail would be on a dedicated bike lane, but there are some parts with tricky intersections and some Stroads. According to Google Maps it’s a 1 hour 9 minute commute. My plan is to do it 2 yo 3 times a week, when I’m not seeing clients and need to use a suit. What do you think? Do I pull the trigger? The bike is a Trek FX 1.

I ride 2×25 on a chromoly steel gravel bike 3-5 days a week.

If your area gets a lot of winds (I’m on the prairies so wind is the norm. It changes direction and blows opposite direction in the afternoon than the morning. Always towards me. 🥵), you might consider a bike with drop bars. The more aero position does help.

Also I find 5050 riders with backpacks vs panniers. Some like panniers as on hot days you sweat with less on your back but others prefer backpacks as the panniers do upset the balance.

You can leave your suit at work and just do a wet wipe towel off and your fresh as a bouquet. Careful it’s addictive. You will find yourself saying at the end of the week “Darn I only rode 4 days. Must be slacking off. “
