I’ve bought a new, unused bike, a 2023 Bulls Wild Ronin RS, and it came with a “LIMOTEC Alpha 1 Lite” dropper post. Since this is my first dropper post, I couldn’t tell if it’s working properly – there was some gentle scratching sound when extending and compressing, but it worked. Two muddy rides later, I noticed some scratches on the stanchion of the dropper post (a ring of scratches on the top and two wide scratches, on the front and back) and that now it’s even more dry when moving up and down. I asked a bike mechanic friend and he said it’s probably from being stored and not used for a long time, it’s dried up and needs regreasing. I looked online but couldn’t find any instructions on how to do it for this specific dropper post. I guess that it’s bad to keep using it until I service it.
___
Has anyone had experience with opening this particular dropper post?
___
Is it possible to undo the collar on it like on more popular dropper posts to clean (and grease) the bushing there?
___
In the “Cleaning and Lubrication” section of the pdf from LIMOTEC’s website, I found the following: Clean and lubricate the seat post at least once every 6 months. Remove dirt and dust from the top tube. Use only suitable grease for lubrication.
Which grease should I use?
