That was tough that was Tough hi guys so today is the start of my 60 hill climbs of the southeast it’s following Warren’s book so this spans across the whole of the soueast from Sussex to Hampshire and everything in between my first four climbs are going to be in Sussex I’m going to drive there

Because it’s freezing and there’s four that fairly spaced out all of the ones that are clustered I’m going to try and do through the spring the summer and just do them in one hit and all of the ones that are on the peripheral on the edge of of where there’s just few dotted

Around I’m probably going to drive to or get the train to just because it’s simpler so I’m going to be doing four today as I said I’m not going to document each Hill and give you a really indepth description I think if I was doing one at a time I’d do that but

Really this is about me just achieving this goal getting all 60 done by the end of the year so what I’m going to do is I’ll film a little bit of each hill I’ll give you the stats on the hills and then I’ll move on to the next one mainly

Because I don’t I don’t think it’s going going to be much interest in like 20 minute videos of me going up hills that are that can be fairly nondescript some of them are going to be stunning in which case I’ll try and capture a lot more but I’m going to be focusing on

Trying to just get up the hill particularly my winter bike as well because it is heavier and you do feel the strain more with my amonda the summer bike the TRU bike honestly it’s the it’s such a good climbing bike it’s so light and it it’s just so responsive

With the baldman it’s a little bit harder but it’s fine that’s fine my aim is to just get each Hill done film a little bit of it get to the top and then bang onto the next one today I’ve Got a Friend driving me so I may even drive to

Each Hill and it’s just to accomplish my goal and I’ll give you a little bit of description when I get to the top you know tell you what it’s like the views that that sort of thing also a rating maybe a rating and see if my ratings differ from Simon Warren’s but that’s

The principle right normally in my videos I’ll try and capture everything but it’s probably more likely to be what’s at the top the rating and then bang onto the next one and when I’m doing other Hills where so for instance Kent in Kent there’s a lot of these

Climbs all clustered together so what I’ll do is with one big loop and I’ll be able to capture more and and it’s a bit more interesting rather than just doing you know singular Hills so anyway yeah First Hill is in eastborn Sussex if you’ve done done it you might know what

That one is if you are enjoying the content please like comment and subscribe thank you and I will see you in eastborn Sussex A Holy whe zigzags first climb of the day East Sussex eastborn it’s a bit of a windy road not meant to be too hard there’s a lot of cars around it’s very very cold so I’m going to get going I forgot my chest strap so I’m going to

Try and strap the gopr to my jersey let’s see how we go on A Right there is eastborn and I’ve just climbed from the seafront up ho well zigzags nice little climb have you climbed it if so what would you give it I’m saying three out it Simon waren visit 2 I think quite a few cars around some beautiful views now onto the next

One and they do get harder it’s so cold as well so I’m going to get moving that’s one of the 60 ticked off only three more to go now for today right on to the next one the next climb is butts Lane this is

An 8 out of 10 we’ll see quite a bit of frost on the ground we’ll see how we get on I’m going to strap you to my Chest That was B Lane don’t know what the camera footage is like cuz I have to strap it to my jersey not my chest Mount so apologies I forgot it typical me that was tough that was tough 7 and 1 half out of 10 i’ say I think it gives it an eight Simon

Warren but I’m giving that a 7 and a half was gring but there is a little bit of rest by it so yeah 7 and a half what would you guys rate it if you’ve ridden it I’m knackered I’ve not done Hills for oh definitely not sure in December cuz I

Was doing the festive 500 trying to keep the elevation really really flat so this has killed me I’m absolutely blown to bits on to the next one now guys in a Bit the start of B peep Bost okay already a bit sketchy there’s a bit of ice at the beginning it is stunning but probably not one of my best ideas to do this in January in the cold when it’s icy anyway we’ll see it’s going to get tough in a minute

So I’m going to I’m not going to strap it to my chest this time or to my jersey we’ll just see how we get on I’ll see you guys in a second Have a look directly in front top of that Ridge is where I’m going so this is going to be Tough So B peep BOS though is a winner definitely not an eight out of 10 definitely not I would say seven for me personally although if it was the end of a long ride then possibly this is the last time of the day for me we’re hitting F Bost this is

A 7 out of 10 so we’ll see how I get on right in a Bit So that was F bostel 8 out of 10 I’m giving that very very steep at the end not very forgiving have you guys ridden it fell BOS I would say yeah 7 and a half eight something like that I think that that was Harden B peep but let me know what you guys Think So guys I hope you enjoyed that today we did Sussex holy well zigzags at easta nice gentle climb and it’s quite good fun but there were cars behind me so it was it was I would I would say that’s probably yeah two or three out of 10 but

It was decent it’s nice then butts Hill or butts Lane that was interesting that was really hard that was quite actually quite hard quite narrow very very steep quite unforgiving at the top views okay but the climb itself was quite hard but definitely worth worth a go then going

Towards Brighton we had Bo Peep bostel it is hard but it’s it’s doable it’s it’s fine really nice views at the top just picturesque and beautiful and I think also on a sunny day you’d have even more views I would probably recommend doing that in the spring

Summer at the start of the climb it’s very very icy it’s not that cold at the moment it is cold don’t get me wrong we’re talking like three or four degrees but as soon as that hit starts hitting zero one I wouldn’t want to ride that personally finally we had F bostal that

Was probably my favorite climb all of these Hills are doable anyway it’s not like they’re beyond people to do but I would say that was probably harder for me than b peep yeah so that’s four heels done I’ve got 50 6 56 to go I hope you enjoyed today

Guys thanks for watching Remember to comment as well if you’ve done the hills cuz I want to know what you think of the ratings did I get it right do you agree do you agree with Simon Warren let me know in the comment section please like comment and subscribe and I’ll see you

Very very soon bye-bye

  1. Well done Ben, good start, 4 down! West Sussex is still really icy and pockets of snow left, so you lucked out going East… Come a do West Sussex in the spring/summer and give me a shout and I'll join you. Don't forget the IOW Randonnee at the start of May (registration opens in Feb)…

  2. All in a days work! If you can chalk up a couple of hills every time you go out, you'll soon be tearing fast up to 60.
I've not done any of those, but a good watch all the same 😊

  3. Live in Saltdean at weekends so familiar with all those hills.Ride return each week from K.O.T. Much nicer in good weather and have the bonus of seeing and hearing the Goodwood spitfires overhead .

  4. Agree re Firle Bostal. It’s a rare climb that lets you have the road to yourself as the road literally goes nowhere except to a car park! It’s a great training hill just not as warm as sa colabra
