Leicester City Football Club set out plans in 2021 to expand the capacity of their ground to 40,000 seats, making it one of the largest football stadiums in the United Kingdom.
The club said more than 1,000 jobs would be created during the construction period, with another 1,000 permanent positions across facilities on the site.
In December 2023 Leicester City Football Club confirmed that its hybrid planning application for the development of the King Power Stadium and surrounding site received formal approval from Leicester City Council, following the Council planning committee’s initial approval in September 2022.
The Leicester City Expansion development includes:
– Expansion of the East Stand by 8,000 seats

– LCFC flagship fanstore
– Club and commercial office space
– 220-room hotel and business centre
– Event and entertainment arena
– Residential tower
– Multi-storey car park and cycle hub
