I just landed in Nairobi and am rebuilding my bike before a 2 month trip. I found a sharp bend in my rear break cable. I’ve straightened it out, but I can feel the cable has a memory of the bend when I move it. The brake appears to be depressing equally, but I’m not sure how seriously this has impacted my cable. Any advice?

Very difficult to say, it might work right now but snap sometime. Personally i would replace it if possible, if not possible try to change your braking habbits and rely on the other brake.
I would say don’t worry about it (assuming these are mechanical brakes?), but as it’s a two month trip I’d just replace it to be safe.
If these are hydro (they look like it to me), then that needs replacing ASAP.
It’s the inner section that’s been damaged and can leak fluid, the black outer is just a rubber liner.
Buy a spare inner cable. It’s an easy fix on the road, if it were to snap. You’ll need some snips and a multi tool
If it’s hydraulic keep an eye on it for bulging or leaking over time, it’s probably nothing as the inner casing is super tough and the pressure running through is fairly low, if it’s cable and the cable moves freely through it then don’t worry.
95% chance it’s just cosmetic.
