Drill a hole in a piece of wood, set it short side down into said hole, tap it with a mallet. That’s all your LBS is going to do.

  2. A bushing tool is less than $20 brand new and you’ll get it dead center every time without risking damage by mallet. It also allows you to freely pull and replace bushings and hardware on any shock.

I bought two for myself while working for a shop. One for my bench, another for home.

You can also make one at home with a threaded rod and some hardware from any hardware store.
