Hi everyone, as title says I am trying to figure out which bike is most suitable for bikepaking.
For context: I am planning a 500km trip in 5 days, most of the route will be almost flat.
Option 1) ‘89 specialized rockhopper
I really like this bike but it’s definitely not lightweight. I spent some time with it and enjoy riding it day by day but I am not sure it’s the best option to ride ~100km a day.
Option 2) ‘09 (I guess…) Focus Highland Peak. I rode it a bit and I like it, it’s way lighter than the rockhopper thanks to the aluminium frame, it brakes way better and has the possibility to mount disk brakes. The fork is old and cheap but it has the possibility to be locked and can be useful in some situations. On this bike I should be able to switch to a 1×11 setup with the same wheel since it mounts a 3×8 atm.
Both frames fit my height, I know it doesn’t look like it from the pictures but they were taken without properly adjusting the bikes.

Easily the rockhopper. Higher quality all around and your bike is going to be heavy either way with stuff loaded on it.
