As you can see I’m having some trouble with a lock ring that will not come out. The locking tool I’m using keeps slipping out and the lock ring is made from a very soft metal it seems, as it is losing some of its teeth. Any ideas on how I can get it out?
I was looking at a using a freehub tool, as it should sit deeper into the threads. Alternatively was thinking of buying a cheaper lock ring tool and the strongest super glue I can find! Your help is appreciated.

What caused it to be stripped. Was it a tool engagement issue, corrosion or cross threading causing it to get stuck? It’s a tough one to get out. You could always use a Dremel with a cut off wheel to snip a corner off and use a nail punch to see if you could get it moving.
Did you soak it in WD-40 or anything to help make it break free easier? Might be able to get it to break free before the stripping occurs that way.
Can you tell us what tools are you using, so we can know what to reccomend. That is what’s working and what’s not.

The proper tool will make your life so much easier. I think I paid $15 for a cheap lock ring tool with a guide pin that fits in the skewer hold and it does not cam out.
Use a QR (and a washer if needed) to keep the lock ring tool in.
